If you turn your back on this site you can really miss out. Look, new format! Wow! Very nice!!
Then Look at all those quilts I've missed! Most Excellent!

Here's what I've been working on. I've kept myself busy!

Whirligigs is my new quilt top. By the time I got it into one piece I was sick of it! I've folded that quilt top up and put it away. It needs to "ripen" for awhile. Too many triangles. This pattern is in the book "Strip-Pieced Quilts - Easy Design from Just Six Fabrics" by Maaike Bakker.

I'm also posting three quilts that are completed. Just to prove that I've not been totally wasting my time here. The BOM sampler was made from blocks posted in our BOM section. So is the Scalloped sampler that I'll post in a minute.

The "Sampler-48" is made up of 6" blocks that my sister and I worked on. It was started in 2007. So, three done! Many, many more waiting!!!

And my scalloped border sampler. Those scallops are not as easy as they look in various tutorials. Eleanor Burns makes it look so very simple! NOT!! It's also a lot longer around when you're hand stitching the binding! Amazing how much longer those scallops make the binding. Glad it's done!

Tippy 12-01-2009 09:59 AM

Those are awesome!! I especially like the second one.. great color!!

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 12-01-2009 10:03 AM

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I know you've seen the three sampler quilts a few times but I just had to prove that I can finish projects occasionally. The scalloped sampler will go to my daughter for a picnic quilt. The other two haven't been claimed by the girls yet so they are mine! For a while anyway!!!
I want you to know that the first picture, the whirligigs quilt top, is quite a bit brighter than the picture shows. The orange border absolutely glows in the proper light!
My next project is going to be to copy gcathie's twisted bargello. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-17516-1.htm
Here's a picture of the fabric I'm using. This will be for our youngest daughter.

But first I need to go back to looking at the other wonderful quilts that people here have made. Wow!

Elisabrat 12-01-2009 02:37 PM

I love the first quilt. Those are the colors that make you happy when you see them. I personally avoid any patterns with rounded pieces.. I did that once and while it came out very well I was bummed at how hard it was and if its not done right it really shows (worse than those darned points!). Congrats on getting this far!

Chele 12-01-2009 02:39 PM

Beeyootiful, Miss Y-vonne! More color schemes of yours to steal. I mean borrow!

No round pieces here for me to curse! Just a bunch of 60 degree triangles. But they all meet in the middle in a lump! Plus that middle had to match up. The rest didn't have anything to match just those middles. I think the color wore me down though they are some of my favorite colors.

Yvonne 12-03-2009 05:33 PM

Thank you. You all are absolutely the sweetest!!!

It's so nice to be catching up with you all again. The "down side" is that I'm getting way more ideas in my head of things I "need" to make!

Miss M, I'm looking forward to your promised posts in the new year. We'll be holding you to that promise.

Everyone continue on. I know you are all busy getting those last minute projects finished in time for the big day. Enjoy!!! and remember more pictures!

daisyboo9 12-03-2009 09:56 PM

I love them all too, but if I have to pick one it would have to be the sampler, the combination of those citrus colours against the white is stunning. I also have to say I love your avatar quilt too!
