Celtic Solstice by Charisma

I know that many of us made this quilt so I thought I would share my version.
Mine looks a bit different because when Bonnie released the color cards for us to dig through our scraps & stash I didn't have most of the colors.....so I had to improvise. I changed orange to pink...and I used pastels because I actually had those in my stash. My quilt looks much softer & more feminine.....and It took a TON of yardage because I made the big one....and I also couldn't keep up with the group..I got stuck for a long time on the chevrons of the second step....LOL> I think many of us did.
I finished the top around Easter...but just got around to quilting it. I love Bonnie Hunter patterns and I think she is so nice to share one with us every year for the mystery. I always feel like I have accomplished something great when I finish one of her quilts.
Thanks so much for looking!

Amazing how the fabric colors really change the look of this quilt pattern. I did the small version in Bonnie's colors. As always your quilting is the best!

charisma, so nice to see you here, your quilt is beautiful, but the soft colors really do chandelier the quilt, I think that is so amazing

Just beautiful! So soothing and serene in those colors.

KalamaQuilts 07-18-2014 01:06 PM

misseva 07-18-2014 01:46 PM

I would have never recognized that as a celtic solstice quilt.

Love the soft colors . I can see where you would get stuck making so many chevrons for this HUGE quilt. Congrats on this fabulous finish.

Very nice! I like the pastel version and your choice of quilt pattern. It looks like a wonderful snugly girly quilt. What batting did you use? It looks like poly or wool to me. I like the strong sculpted look of the quilting. It makes it look like a cloud, fluffy.

grammysharon 07-18-2014 02:31 PM

Love the soft delicate palate you used and as always the quilting is magnificent!!! We've missed seeing what you are working on!!!!

Hi Anna, Yes..I used HObbs Poly down batting. :)

Koriana 07-18-2014 04:48 PM

Thank you for your reply back. I thought it might be. I was able to buy a remnant of Hobbs Poly down batting but have not been able to use it yet. To me it has the look of wool batting after it is quilted but way more affordable. Very nice definition.

you do such gorgeous work....

DogHouseMom 07-19-2014 08:12 AM

I think I like this one the best! I love the subtlety of it. The original was a bit too dramatic for my taste. This one rocks!!

jillnjo 07-19-2014 08:30 AM

Truly wonderful!! I think I'll try one of Bonnie's patterns!

joyful1 07-19-2014 06:05 PM

Beautiful!

Homemother 07-19-2014 06:12 PM

Gorgeous, of course! So subtle and sweet! I'm making one now - and am still on the chevrons! So ironic you mentioned those. The 61 centers are done. All the pieces made with the tri-recs are done. Now to finish those chevrons and then the 4-patches. Here's a funny - I'm going to have a very long strip of chevrons on the back of the quilt because they were sewn too small! Either they will be on the back of the quilt or I will make a cute bed runner for those chilly nights!

Your work is always just stunning. Beautiful job.

Beautiful Charisma. Yes, I'm still stalled at step 3..but I'll get it going when I'm back in the fall.

Love the pastel fabrics and your quilting, as always, is amazing.

leighway 07-20-2014 11:41 AM

Speaking of those chevons, did you happen to find a faster way of piecing them? I love the pastels and the overall quilting pattern.
