Charming Additions Scrappy started
2 Attachment(s)
I started cutting squares for this challanging quilt last november.
From: AP&Q , December 2012 Even with all the fabric in this quilt it doesn't even start to dent my scraps. here is the first quarter on the design board. The colors are washed out from the flash and looks very pale but it isn't. Now to sew this part together and see if I want to keep going. peace. I am so envious. I have started collecting also but don't have nearly as many as you. You go Girl!!
P.S. Love your design wall. |
Oh, I have this pattern...so far yours looks great!!! I love anything scrappy!
oh I like this-a lot
I love that pattern . Yours is really progressing and from the beginnings it going to be beautiful... You must be inspired!
I saw this quilt in Quiltmaker magazine a few months ago. I really liked it until I saw that each piece was sewn horizontally and individuall together. That is a great idea to use a design board - Hmm maybe I will give it a try. The magazine had suggested to sew it in four sections. Have fun with this one!
It will be beautiful, just start sewing.
I like this a lot! Great way to use up scraps-
It's going to be a great scrappy quilt. Love the pattern.
That's great! Love it. Keep going. If you don't like it when it's done - I'll take it off your hands!
Can't wait to see this beauty completed!!!!!
I've admired this pattern on posts on pinterest. Yours is absolutely beautiful! You've inspired me to give this one a try now that I've seen it on your design board. Thank you! Great work!
Really pretty!!!!!
Cool pattern and you've made a great start....the cross with the little motifs in looks particularly good (little dogs??). Definitely one that would need a design board! Anyway....please show us as you progress....it looks like it's going to be a stunner.
You are doing a fantastic job! Love the pattern, love scrappy and love your design wall. Looking forward to seeing it complete.
Looking good.
Keep going! Looks great. Maybe it can be a project that you work on between other projects.
I really like it. I love the fabric with a green background with what looks like black dogs or maybe cats? I would definitely finish it!
It's going to be gorgeous! Love your little fussy-cuts on the right hand side.
Good for you! I prefer the strip piecing method better but yours looks GREAT!
Awesome so far!
@ momjoy6, post #24: I only wish this could be done by strip piecing. If you can figure that out let me know. Every plus sign is a different fabric. HA-HA. What did I get myself into!
I have the first 5 rows sewn so far and it's going well at this moment.:D I promise to post pic as I go along. |
It's going to be beautiful...
Want to make one but will prob do bigger squares! Thats a lot of tiny squares! Love the design board, makes it alot easier. great job cant wait to see it done!!
Looks great, nice pattern.
Oh my gosh. Keeping all those pieces in the right places would have driven me nuts.
What a great way to use scraps. You've made a good start so looking forward to seeing the completed project.
Love it, I've seen that pattern a number of times and have added it to my to-do list. I should have a ton of scraps when I finish my farmer's wife quilt that I am paper piecing. I will have to stick up a design wall like yours, you have a nice stash of scraps.
That pattern is on my "to do" list. Your's looks really pretty!
Very nice design and a great way to use scraps.

It is going to be a beautiful quilt..one that you can really be proud of..I would love to make one..I think my squares will be a bit bigger....everyone is talking about this pattern..but what is the name of it? Thanks

Your quilt looks great! I like how you used painter's tape to number the block rows along the top and sides to keep them in line. I'll have to try this.
I started cutting for this quilt last week. I'm trying to have all different fabrics, but not sure I'll manage that. Imagine how disappointed(crabby) I'll be when I have to dig out all those fabrics again and cut another 5 squares of each! While I'm cutting, I'm also cutting charms, 4x6 blocks, more 2.5" squares, and strips for 4 other quilts. I must be crazy, but cutting is my least favorite part of quilting, so I may as well get them all cut at once while I have the fabric in hand. |
I,too, saw this and wanted to try it until I saw that it takes so much planning, but you have inspired me to try it.
Wohoa! What a great way to use the squares! Love it!
If it looks this good now, the finished quilt is going to be awesome.
