Checkered Dresden
1 Attachment(s)
Here is Checkered Dresden, an MSQC pattern demonstrated by Jenny Doan on YouTube last month. I chose the 4 pinkish fabrics to try the pattern and then, on watching the video again, realized that the blades were meant to be mixed up to make a scrappy creation. I also added an extra row to make it double sized. I still have to bind it but couldn't wait to show you all. Blocks are 20" finished and, as you can see, I added sashings and only 5" borders instead of 8".

Very pretty!

Oh I really like that!! I have made Dresdens but never thought about making them checkered. Oh yay, another one for the bucket list. Thanks for sharing.

stunning, absolutely beautiful

I forgot to say that I have filled this with flannelette instead of batting to make a lighter summer weight quilt, like the old bedspreads/counterpanes; it is still quite weighty with the double layering of applique on the background fabric.

Pretty quilt and I like your arrangement better!

Wow, that looks complicated! Wonderful job!

Looks like a lot of work. You did a great job & it turned out beautifully.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidoscis! Love it! To eliminate the weighness/bulk of the plates, can you cut the background out from behind them? Just a thought.....
