I am donating this to the Drive Fore Diabetes silent auction today. It is one charm pack of the moda cherish nature and a cut of fabric I ordered to go with it. I had fun quilting it yesterday. I used my french curve to mark the top, so it sure isn't perfect. But, I wanted to use this orange peal design and didn't have a templet for it. Anyway... What do you think? It is pretty big.

Thanks girls! I like the way it turned out too. Keep your fingers crossed that it makes some money for the kids.

Here is the tote that is going too. There are pockets on one side, but I didn't get a pic of them. This is made with outdoor cushion fabrics from hancocks. I had never worked with that before, but, it turned out ok. That makes it completely water proof though.

It is beautiful and couldn't be for a better cause!!!

jcarilyn 04-30-2010 10:21 AM

Beautiful!!!!! I love, love, love the table runner, nice job on the quilting!

RedGarnet222 04-30-2010 10:24 AM

Sorry Denise, there is no pattern for it. I rarely use a pattern for anything but clothing. I saw this block pattern on line and I thought it would work good to stretch a charm pack out large enough for this runner.

Here is a link to the first tote that sold for seventy five dollars for the diabetic kids. I loved how this one came out.

They say that coping is the most sincere form of compliments. Or, something like that anyway... Please do!

That is my favorite of all! I loved making that tote. It came together as the best thing I ever made. From a cut up vest no less, and some batik fabric I had in my stash. The antique buttons were so pretty and set the whole thing off. LOL!

It was hard to give that one away, joan ... LOL! I made it for my grand room that has those colors in it. But, I can make another or something else. This event only comes once a year. And will send kids to camp to learn to deal with thier disease. I made a quilt too, but, I forgot to take a picture before I sent it down there to the diabetes office. Dog gone it.

RedGarnet222 04-30-2010 10:59 PM

Thanks one and all. I am hoping to get maybe a couple more things finished before the golf tournament. I have an apron to send too I forgot about. Lots of hand work on it, so it took me two days to make it.

Thank you for donating this quilt for this cause. I'm 54 & have been a type 1 diabetic since 1972, at which time they pronounced me dead. I had been in a diabetic coma for 15 days because they didn't know I was diabetic. So many advancements have been made during my lifetime, in part thanks to individuals such as yourself helping the organizations out there. Thanks so much!Dawn Payne

roseOfsharon 05-01-2010 07:35 PM

RedGarnet222 05-02-2010 04:08 PM

I am sorry I waited so long to respond everyone. I was working on a bow tuck tote for the auction. Diabetes is at epidemic levels in the US now and many kids are being diagnosed with it at an alarming rate. There are so many people walking around with it that don't even know they have it. Bless thier hearts... This is one serious killer.

Thanks for the support and cheering me on. I will keep sewing until the event in a couple weeks.

zz-pd 05-03-2010 10:06 PM

that is beautiful, and your quilting is fantastic. thank you so much for sharing. God bless. Penny
