I finally put the binding on this this week! I made it with the leftovers from my Cherry Surprise quilt and left it sit for a while not wanting to quilt it.

Well, I took a class on the longarm quilting machine at the LQS and practiced on this one. It turned out really well! I did a loopdy-loop kind of quilting pattern. I had fun with it, which surprised me as I don't like quilting on my machine. The longarm was SO much easier.

So it's finally done and we are using it! It's even been washed already.

Nice quilt. I really like it a lot.

I think this is so nice! Reminds me of one of my grandmothers. She sewed a lot (don't know if she quilted) and had this beautiful cherry tree in her backyard. We'd go visit her and Grandpa every year during the summer. Sometimes we'd luck out and it would be cherry picking time and I'd get to help her make cherry jelly. Of course I ate my share of it as well! ;-) I'd love to make this quilt some day.

I LOVE cherries! They don't love me so much... but I eat them anyway. :0) I live near Door County which is famous for their cherries. Haven't picked there, but a lot of friends/family do. Then they freeze the cherries for pies and stuff in the winter.

What a cheerful quilt!! I love it...simple but very pretty!! Is it your own pattern or did you have a pattern for it? Looks like you machine appliqued?
Love the different reds and pink you used in the cherries and the greens in the leaves!!!

Oh, very, very pretty. The quilt is wonderful and I, like so many of you are very fond of cherries. Your machine quilting was great. Makes me inspired to try more of it, even though I have to stick to small quilts and doing it on my machine. Glad you are using it.

Love your quilt, it just speaks to me!!!
I just started a little quilting business and named it "Sweet Cherry Quilts". I picked that name because I grew up in Michigan and my first job as a kid was picking cherries on my grandparents fruit farm. I have decided since my first job was picking sweet cherries my last job would be "Sweet Cherry Quilts".
You live in a beautiful area and your quilt is beautiful as well, thanks for sharing it with us!

nannya54 10-10-2010 01:35 PM
