A Chevon, with a twist
 

Here's my latest baby quilt--this one is for a good friend's daughter. Don't look too closely at the quilting, I was really not "on" that day. It looks better if you are speeding past in a car :p Don't know if I like the Baptist Fan design on this one; I think it kinda takes away from the optical illusion of the piecing. I think it's a very cute quilt and you did a great job with the quilting. I wouldn't hang my head over this one!

I think this is beautiful and love the quilting. I'm starting to do a little practice with machine quilting and I'm studying yours...not looking for faults! I promise! But trying to think how you did it. The stitching on the border that looks like piano keys...how did you do that? Did you go inside out, stitch over and back down outside in? Or did you go all one direction? It looks like that would be A LOT of work! Thank you for your input.

I think the quilting is great for this design. It really keeps the eye moving. Beautiful colors.

I stitched up/across then down/across. Didn't like the way that looked on the back, so changed to my walking foot and did straight stitching--a real hassle turning the quilt all the time--it looked a lot better. Thanks for all the kind comments, the more I look at the quilt, the more I see the movement and it looks pretty good :)

This is a great quilt. I'm not sure what optical illusion you are referring to, but I like the way the baptist fan design seems to soften the chevron design. I many times feel that a chevron design is very jarring to look at.
You did a fine job on the quilting by the way.

I was thinking the same thing! If I were quilting that I am not sure it is a pattern that I would have chosen, but you made me look at it in a different way.

I would consider it a Classic quilting motif, but now I am thinking I would also like it on a modern quilt. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
