this is one of those quilts where everything is near perfection,...your quilting, the pattern, the fabric is to die for....what a treasure.
I agree, you sure do have an eye for quilting. How much time could I save if I had a gift like that? It takes me forever to decide all the components and then I have to work at not changing my mind. Do you have a system, lol? C

Kathy-Pgh 12-10-2008 11:05 AM

:?:

Could someone be so kind as to tell me in which Fons and Porter book/mag this pattern appeared. I have been waiting 2 years for inspiration for a fabric and I just found it. TIA

Tremendous quilt!!!!!!!!!!

SewSew2 12-10-2008 06:36 PM

Excellent job and I know your mom is going to be delighted to receive it.
Beth

Mousie 12-10-2008 09:14 PM

I'm with KathyPgh...somebody please tell us which issue of fons and porters love of quilting this is in.
I have a couple years worth, but don't want to go hunting if I don't even have it. I think my reds and greens in the trellis would make a great christmas quilt for next year...please? love ya forever if you do, lol! C

Renee 12-11-2008 04:32 AM

Very pretty! You did great!
Renee

Grandma Cindy 12-11-2008 06:16 AM

quiltncrazy - Go to the first message and then go to pons and porter and put in the title of the quilt, I found the magazine, I think it was in 1998 but then they didnt have listed, the magazine for sale. Good luck

Kathy-Pgh 12-11-2008 06:19 AM

I believe I found it. I searched the Amazon site and found a Fons and Porter "Quilts for all Seasons" book that had "Around the Twist" in its table of contents. Bought a used copy for $4 something. Will let you know if this is the correct book when I receive it. This pattern will definitely be my "January" project. Lovely!

Mousie 12-11-2008 09:06 AM

Thank You so much!!! C

Mousie 12-11-2008 09:08 AM

Kathypgh, sounds like you found it to me! woo hoo!

blmclin 12-11-2008 10:32 AM

Your quilt is just beautiful. Your mom will love it. It is clear a lot of love went into making it.

Kathy-Pgh 12-11-2008 11:59 AM

Correction--the book title was "Our Best Seasonal Quilts". Methinks I have a few too many quilt books--LOL

sewmuch 12-11-2008 12:07 PM

What a beauty that quilt is, your Mom will love it.

littlehud 12-11-2008 07:21 PM

That is one beautiful quilt. I need to find that pattern. I love it.

Grandma Cindy 12-11-2008 09:23 PM

Kathy-P - thank you so much for the Amazon idea. I had never gone there before and I think it is so cool one can look into the contents. Aren't computers a mystery. I now also have one on the way for $8 plus some pennies... the shipping.. thanks again, Cindy

SulaBug 12-11-2008 11:54 PM

Your Mom is a lucky lady. I just know she will love it. Keep up the great work.

Happy Holidays,
Cheryl

Mousie 12-12-2008 06:20 PM

littlehud...i took Kathypgh's advice and went to amazon and looked. i practically live there anyway, lol. bought the book too.

grandma cindy, you must have wanted a brand new one. i buy used all the time and get great books there. also check out overstock.com. once in a while they will have a book that amazon has for less money.

deerviewquilting, looks like you inspired quite a few ppl!!! i have some fabrics in mind, but let's see if i get it done for next christmas. still have so many unfinished, but definitely not forgotten projects.
one reason is I need more space, so my hubby is going to put up some more shelves for me. getting the wood tomorrow. woo hoo!!!
another is i have several chronic conditions that limit me, but i keep plugging along. This is so beautiful, i can't wait for the book to come. ....i want to thank my manager, thank God, my family...LOL!...and everybody on this site. Being on this site and seeing quilts that ppl have made and hearing their stories is sooo much more inspiring than just reading my quilt magazines. It makes me believe. I should have called my self silly quilter. C

Marcia 12-12-2008 06:57 PM

deerview--what a beautiful quilt you have created. I love your fabric, the pattern set on point, and your quilting. I think your mom is going to be jumping up and down on Christmas morning. :-)

Beautiful quilt !!!Love the focus fabric

btty 01-07-2009 11:03 AM

I called Fons and Porter 800 number and they sent the pattern for $5.00 its May/June 1998

littlehud 01-17-2009 10:10 PM

OK. Got the new Keepsake Quilting catalog and there was the pattern. I took this as a sign it's time to make this quilt. Had to make a choice, order one pattern from keepsake quilting for 10.95 or order the Fons and Porter one with many patterns for quilts. Guess which one won. Just ordered the Fons and Porter one for 5.72 with 3.99 shipping. Still cheaper that the other one. I can't wait to start this quilt. Went to the fabric store today to check out new fabric. Can't buy it til the pattern gets here and I know how much I need. Setting on pins and needles here. LOL

It's a method that many longarm quilters use to "tame" wavy borders. As long as you don't pre-wash your fabrics, you can use spray starch and steam (or any heat) to shrink up your borders.

Can you tell me how to do this. I have a border that is waving at me. LOL

mountain-moma 02-07-2009 03:54 PM

Awesome quilt. It reminds me of Southern charm. I can just see it on a big old antique bed in a Southern lady's bedroom. It's lovely. I know your Mom will love it.
