I made this queen quilt for my mother for Christmas. It's a pattern called Around the Twist, from a Fons and Porter book. They have it has a straight setting, but I set it on point.
This is the third top I've made with this pattern. I guess I'm addicted to it!
I quilted it with straight lines in the twist to enhance the trellis effect. Then quilted roses in the snowball blocks and a loopy thing in the middle of the twist block.

It's a big step to get a longarm, but I'm not regretting it at all. I did, however, start with a shortarm (Juki) on a frame system (Hinterberg). It only lasted 6 months, as I was needing more throat space. But it does give you a chance to see if you like "stand up" quilting. That system only cost about $1500. But I still use the Juki to piece with, which is AWESOME!

Here's another photo while it was on the frame. As I mentioned in my introduction, I'm not an expert at piecing borders. Luckily I don't torture another machine quilter, I have to deal with it.
It's a method that many longarm quilters use to "tame" wavy borders. As long as you don't pre-wash your fabrics, you can use spray starch and steam (or any heat) to shrink up your borders.

Beautiful!! Someday... hopefully, I will get a machine that allows me to machine quilt more than in the ditch... if not, I'll have to perfect quilt as you go I guess.
