Hi all. I got the idea for these from Quilter Girl's Valentine ones here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-36657-1.htm.

I made seven, they're to sell at a craft fair I'm doing at the end of November. Good practice for mitred corners - there were 42 in total!

I just made these Christmasy ones as the craft fair is intended for ppl to buy Christmas pressies. I guess you could make them for any season or just all year round ones, by chosing different fabrics. They're easy peasy - you could make them bigger simply by cutting bigger strips. :-D

kriscraft99 10-11-2010 02:40 AM

if they are for christmas presents - i would offer some animal ones - cats & kitties are always great sellers for me (just a thought) - do you mind if I pm you about them?

No problem! All suggestions gratefully received - I am completely new to the craft fair game! :-D

very pretty!

Kitsapquilter 10-11-2010 04:27 AM

Very pretty! I like that they could also be used for a small table mat or candle mat. With other fabrics they would be nice any time of year. Thinking red, white and blue for July!!

Hello k3n,
You do such nice work. I love these.

Lilrain 10-11-2010 08:05 AM

Thanks for the pictures. They are great. Not long after I started quilting, probably about 1990 i made so many placemats using that method, I had sent them to Florida, Colorado, Wyoming, Ohio, and Arizona. They are fun to make and addicitive. One variation I came up with was to use two fabrics, USing the same fabric on each side of a wider center piece. That way I had a continous ring of fabric. rather than the spider web look. Have fun making them, and I hope you do well at the craft fair

This would be a great idea for animal themed ones. Also I've got some chicken fabric and I might make some with that - I live in a farming area and chickens always go down well! :-D

They're beautiful! How much would people pay for one at a craft fair in the USA?

harvsstuff 10-11-2010 09:39 AM

Very pretty and colorful. Good luck at the craft show.

No idea! Here in England, I'm asking £7.50 which is about $12 I think. :-D

With four x 2 1/2" strips, these finish at 16" across from straight edge to straight edge. Vary the strip widths to get the size you want. :-D

Briefly, you sew four strips of 2 1/2" wide and the width of fabric together then cut this panel into six x 60 deg triangles, using the 60 deg line on your ruler. Then you sew these triangles together in sets of six, alternating the fabric placements. If you sew first into two sets of three then join the two halves, there are no set in seams to worry about. Sandwich, quilt (I just SITD across the seams between the triangles) and bind. :-D
