Christmas presents completed

In January my husband of 51 years passed away - my therapy was to make a throw size quilt from his flannel shirts for each of our three children. There was also enough flannel left to make teddy bears for each of our 12 grandchildren. The patch above the bears heart says "Remembering Bopa" which was his pet name given by our first grandchild.

WOW! What a Christmas morning you are going to have! So many tears, but tears of joy and remembering. It will help turn a sadness into something joyful. (I did a similar thing when my Grandmother - more a mom to all- passed. It was one of our best Christmas days ever. Lots of stories told and laughing instead of sadness.) Bless you and your family.

My DIL this with her grandfathers flannel shirts, she made pillows for each person, it was really neat, she cut each shirt into a 18 inch square over the buttons on the shirt, she included the pocket so each pillow had a pocket, I helped her, she cut and i sewed and it was a lot of fun.
I love your quilts and teddys, and your kids and grands will have such a sweet momento of him |
So Sorry for your loss. You did a great job on the quilts and bears. They are adorable. May I ask where you got the bear pattern?
|
Oh, wow, those are all wonderful and a tribute to your late husband...my sympathy...
|
Sorry for your loss sounds so unreal that does not really express your grief, but you have been strong enough to think of your children and grandchildren and a way they can rejoice in their memories. Quilts last long after we are gone, too. Love and good memories will help you go through the grieving process. Your heart will always miss your husband, but life does go on whether we want it too or not. Love your children and grandchildren with more memories and love every day you have. We are taking each day at a time or one hour at a time as we grieve for lost loved ones.
|
What a lovely way to remember him!
|
Your thoughtful work is beautiful. I call it heart tugs. I'm certain your children and grandchildren will treasure them. Did you make one for yourself?
