I am still trying to find all my projects. I did finish a cross stitch pattern last night- yeah!

lots2do 01-02-2011 12:49 PM

The 24th - that's a great idea! I recognize a piece of your fabric, I own it, too!

Found this thread and searched for the original post. I love this idea. I was just telling my husband last night that I need to start earlier since I still have so many projects to do. My plan was to start in June, but January works too! So I sorted my Christmas fabric into projects and I took a picture of it to post here. The rest of my holiday fabric will be offered for sale here or on eBay later. If this keeps me motivated, I'll do the same thing with my projects for gifts from non-holiday fabric. Great idea!!

Projects ready to go!

I finished this today! A UFO finish for 2011.

Great stash - lets see some of these as you finish.
PS, your Avatar resembles the view out my NW Montana windows; I love winter.

I could look all day at Santa and snowmen fabric. The santa is the cover page of a fabric book of The Night Before Christmas I made for the kids who knows how many years ago. Someone on the board had made a quilt from a picture book and that's what I'm going to do with this. I also have a Follow The Star Chritmas book that I'm going to make into a quilt. There's two months of projects.

Love how you've bordered the panel. Might have to steal - I mean be inspired by that idea.

I hope to find time this afternoon to get my Christmas fabric together and maybe choose patterns for my projects. Also starting a 2011 planner to help keep me on track. i would love to find a pattern of a snowman wearing a santa hat if anyone has ideas.

Melinda in Tulsa 01-03-2011 10:24 AM

I have to get my sewing room cleaned and organized a little better. It's not in *BAD* shape, but I've been stocking up on stuff and it just winds up on my cutting table. Plus my cats think it is their personal playground and just love to scatter stuff. :(

BettyB 01-03-2011 02:11 PM

I had quite a lot of Christmas fabric, but I went to WM and found a lot more for 1/4 the original price. Got some for .61 some .86 and 1.11. Got to get started!!!!

dogles 01-03-2011 02:26 PM

Love the fabric.

kay45 01-04-2011 01:22 PM

Nancy, How many projects are there? I would love to see what you are planning with some of that. Is it all Christmas fabric? Have not started a 2011 project yet, but will as soon as the people in this house aren't sick anymore, Ugh!

I an very busy these next 2 weeks, hosting two gatherings here and sewing at Quilts of valor, so I did not plan anything big for January. I did make one of the octagon mats(reversible) before Christmas. A couple of years ago I made a decoration for my hurricane lamp. Wish I had thought to use the same material for one or the other so they would be a set. 1st pic is the mat, 2nd is the hurrican lamp. 3rd, I put them together. So I will make one or the other, have to check on fabric. But, add a candle and it makes a beautiul gift.

Today I finished a set of six Christmas napkins-they fold into a tree shape, there's the January project, pressed and everything, but I won't send a picture until the end of the month, maybe I will have more things finished. Or started--who knows? piecefully, the old one

ritamae 01-05-2011 06:24 PM

I have vowed to start now as well. My daughter is having surgery next December (2 weeks before Christmas) so she has the break to recover. Since my husband will be left to fend for himself and our two others.... figured I will help him out and have several Christmas gifts done. Plus I want to make my daughter a quilt to take to the hospital with her. I have started one lap quilt for my SIL and an embroidery project for ...whoever...LOL

Don't know if this is really the right place to post or if we're just posting on the other topic. Anyway, will post in both places.

These are the cloth books I just finished. One is "The Night Before Christmas" and the other two are "I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown".

bjnicholson 01-06-2011 02:54 PM

Shamrock, I love the hurricane wrap. Did you use a pattern or make it "out-of-your-head" as my MIL used to tell me!

shamrock 01-06-2011 06:05 PM

Thank you, I sort of enhanced it from one I had purchased at a home dec party.

grandme26 01-07-2011 02:49 PM

Quiltlin--those little books are oh so cute. How did you make them?

They were just panels you can buy and there are directions on how to put them together. Very easy and great for little ones who like to chew on everything.

PiecesinMn 01-08-2011 10:00 AM

I have two Christmas books that I made years ago for the kids and one of my project a month is to take them apart and make quilts out of them. It's the circle of life I guess.

I have a fabric book also I've had for years. But...have been thinking about making a quilt out of it instead. I saw someone else do this and thought it was a cute idea.

ritamae 01-10-2011 02:34 PM

where did you get that beautiful on your site. I use pillow forms to start my quilts you can surely use a book fabric to start one.

You don't have to sign up. Just complete a project ( can be a Christmas or any other). Just trying to do one each mo. by the 24th and post your completed project here.
