This quilt was just hanging there, waiting for me to come along and purchase! Cost: $100...... I love it!

Completely hand appliqued and hand quilted! Can you imagine!

wvhill22 05-11-2011 03:48 PM

LoriEl 05-11-2011 03:49 PM

What a beautiful quilt. Lucky you to be there at the right time to snatch it up for that price.

Jingle 05-11-2011 04:02 PM

Beautiful quilt, lucky you. I give most of my quilts away, I would hate to think they may end up at Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Carron 05-11-2011 04:04 PM

Wow. That an awesome quilt.

MoMiMi 05-11-2011 05:37 PM

Great find. I'd hate to think one of my quilts that I've spent countless hours completing would wind up at Goodwill.

nlgh 05-11-2011 05:48 PM

Wow!! What a pretty quilt. It looks like it has been used very little. I know you are going to enjoy having it.

GreatStarter 05-11-2011 05:52 PM

Wow, so glad someone who appreciates every stitch that went into it, saved that quilt. I can only believe that somehow the original quilter knows and is pleased you have it. (No one who put all that hand work into it would have given it away to Goodwill themself) It's pretty and hope you enjoy it.

Congrats on your find! and good job on your rescue of that quilt

BrendaY 05-11-2011 06:02 PM

Now then..... it needs to be cleaned. Should I wash it in a great big washing machine at a laundry? Help!

darlings7 05-11-2011 06:12 PM

It's a bitter sweet situation isn't it? Sweet that you discovered such a beautiful piece of work and sad for the person who put so many hours of her life into it and have it end up in Good Will. I love the pattern. Does anyone know what it is? I don't think I'd wash it in a laundromat, either have it cleaned or soak it for awhile in your washer and then hand wash it. Good luck.

score!!!
glad u rescued it :D :D :D

watson's mom 05-11-2011 06:40 PM

Who would do that to such a fine quilt or any quilt for that matter. Lucky you for finding it and giving it a good home.

GwenH 05-11-2011 06:42 PM

Someone obviously didn't know all the time/labour and hard work and money that goes into a quilt, to just give it to goodwill! Great find for you, congrats!!

Probably someones husband that despised her quilting. And this was his way to get back at her.

It is really beautiful though isnt it. LOL

Wonderful find. I'm glad someone has it that appreciates it.

CorneliaVa 05-12-2011 03:56 AM

Was it labeled? .... any idea of its origin?

Unfortunately we quilters keep quilting ... the stack gets higher ....

We outlive our circle of friends and/or remove ourselves from the immediate vicinity of our children .... upon our demise no one knows the effort put into or the significance of our work ...

Those who clear out our "stuff" are harried enough, sad enough, or whatever - Our "stuff" is overwhelming to take care of ...

Unless we make provisions, ours, too, will end up in that great flea market in no where .....

Unfortunately, when families are fractured the ones who really care are sometimes obstructed by "those cousins in charge" who make the final disposition of goods .....

Am I cynical, or what? - well, probably just a bit realistic after having watched such procedures....

Glad YOU were at least able to rescue this one beauty ... good work ...

It always makes me wonder...who would just give away something that someone put their heart into, not too mention their time and skill? I cannot conceive of someone doing that. Glad you came along to give it the love and consideration due it.

bisseau 05-12-2011 04:08 AM
