My goal is to have a Christmas quilt for every bed in the house.

Here are my first 3.

Yvonne 11-30-2008 02:22 PM

They are all three gorgeous!

Brazen 11-30-2008 02:23 PM

WOW!! What a great goal to have!! hehehe That first quilt is gorgeous! Well, they ALL are, but the first really strikes me! :) Are you about to begin a 4th Christmas project?

DA Mayer 11-30-2008 02:28 PM

I love the 2nd one. Snowmen are great.

Dorothy of Kansas 11-30-2008 02:37 PM

Oh, Mary QC, they are all beautiful!!! Oh, my!!! You do fabulous work! Where did you get the patterns? I love snowmen and would like to make that for myself (so narcisstic of me, huh?? :) )

Baren*eh*ked_canadian 11-30-2008 02:40 PM

They're all great, but I loooooove the third one!

NiceNCLady 11-30-2008 02:44 PM

They are beautiful. You ladies must start your Christmas projects on January 2. I'm single and no kids and can't get as much done as ya'll do. lol

Evelynquilts 11-30-2008 02:46 PM

What a great idea...beautiful quilts...:)

mary quite contrary 11-30-2008 03:03 PM

These are not new quilts. This has been over the last 5 years or so.

The first one is a Vintage moments class I took just for fun.

The second one was a pattern I found shop hopping.

The third my daughter made for me as a present a couple years ago.

This year I made the tree skirt for us no Christmas quilt. I'm keeping my eyes open for that perfect one. I'm certainly open for ideas so if any of you see a quilt that would make a perfect Christmas quilt just let me know.

Oh mary they are beautifulllllllllllllllllllllll

Moonpi 11-30-2008 04:26 PM

The top one really called to me. How did you make the centers on the pointsettas? They look raised.

mary quite contrary 11-30-2008 04:31 PM

My daughter made the poinsettia one for me. They are appliqued with a fusible that is pretty stiff.

The center is beads so it isn't really a cuddly quilt.

Chele 11-30-2008 04:33 PM

Such beauties! Your house will be decked for the holidays! Gorgeous!

Harmony 11-30-2008 05:05 PM

wow! wow! wow!
would love for somebody to post christmas qu patterns or good sites.
i have so many christmas fabrics, it's so great to see that somebody has actually started and finished theirs. fantastic job. C

mary quite contrary 11-30-2008 08:19 PM

The first one isn't a Christmas quilt pattern. It is Marsha McCloskey's Vintage Moments pattern. She designed it to be used with reproduction fabrics. I just saw Christmas when I saw it.

Any quilt can be a Christmas quilt depending on the fabric.

The poinsettia one was a table runner from the cover of American Patchwork magazine that was just expanded into a full size quilt.

The one that was a Christmas pattern is too small. I wish I would have put some borders on it to make it bigger but it is done and bound now and I'm not taking it apart. I'll just make a different quilt.

I have 2 more beds to go but then there is always the couch and Christmas throws would be nice and what about the air mattress guests.

The list never ends. LOL Thanks all for your kind comments.

pocoellie 11-30-2008 08:31 PM
