Christmas quilts

4 Attachment(s)
I'm at work, waiting for a phone call, so I decided to go back thru my quilt pics. I made both of these in July, my annual Christmas in July projects. The first one is a disappearing 16 patch, I gave it to my youngest son and his family. The stack and whack went to my oldest son and his family. I've included a picture of the original fabric. I named it the world's ugliest Christmas fabric, but it sure made great snw stars. This was the first time I've made snw stars, I loved them, I'll be making more for sure!

As always, wonderful quilts! I agree, that Christmas fabric is... interesting!

MamaBear61 01-20-2014 01:26 PM

Great quilts, and your SNW certainly isn't ugly fabric anymore :-)

Grandma Bonnie 01-20-2014 01:48 PM

Both are beautiful! You made a very pretty quilt from 'ugly' fabric!

serenitybygrace 01-20-2014 02:24 PM

Awesome quilts. Each is very unique and beautiful.

red-warrior 01-20-2014 02:30 PM

I love the beautiful colors on this snowy day!

earthwalker 01-20-2014 02:32 PM

Outstanding quilts. Your quilting is just spot on and the transformation of that fabric is amazing. Thanks for posting these, bound to inspire us to greater heights.

sustraley 01-20-2014 02:34 PM

So impressive. I hope to attempt a SNW this year. (Keeping fingers crossed)

Beautiful job on both quilts but loved the first quilt, what makes it so appealing is the lattice-like sashing. Did you have a pattern for it? I'm looking for a interesting pattern to use with men's thrift-store shirts. For what I want to do, most patterns I've looked used too much sashing fabric that would take away from the shirt fabric.

Awesome work on both quilts. MAN you are good. I am sure that both sons love their quilts. Thanks for sharing. BrendaK

Both of your quilts are gorgeous. The quilting is exquisite. Did you long arm it or do this quilting on your DSM? Beautiful!!!

redquilter 01-20-2014 05:12 PM

Love them both. That "ugly" fabric made a beautiful quilt.

alfosa421 01-20-2014 05:16 PM

Have that fabric too and am very glad to see how your stack and whack turned out. Will definitely give it a try. Thanks so much!

I do my own quilting on my Janome 6500 I love to quilt feathers in the borders, it's my favorite FMQ design.

I love your S & W and thank you so much for posting the original fabric. I want to do one, but can never figure out the fabric to buy. Seeing your fabric helps me to figure out what could work. And I sort of agree, that it is sort of ugly, but ugly ducklings turn into beautiful swans. :) and your quilt proves it. Great job.

Love S&W and yours is awesome. Love the setting and the way you highlighted the blocks. Fabric is pretty too and made a great quilt.

I absolutely love the stack and whack.

callen 01-22-2014 06:01 AM

They are both lovely quilts but that quilting takes them to a new level. You sure created something awesome from, shall we say a "questionable piece of fabric". Great job.

lynndianne 01-22-2014 07:12 AM

Beautiful. I love that first one. Let's see if I can find directions for a 16 DP. Do you do it the same as for a 4 or 6 DP?

cpcarolyn 01-22-2014 09:04 AM

Beautiful quilts.
