My mom and her sister did the state flowers blocks like that for their hope chests back in the 1930's, but never finished them. I finished them and put sashing on as HS home ec project. Then we had a homebound lady in town do the quilting for us. This was probably in about 1962 or '63. It has now fallen apart, but was used for many years.
When I did them, I used waxed paper on either side of the fabric when pressing the crayon color to set it. That served to add a little body to the muslin fabric as well. |

I am a big fan of Crabapple hill also and have all the teacup patterns. I have made one of them and color crayon tinted but did it AFTER the embroidery...Next time I will color before, makes more sense!
