Eddie 11-28-2009 09:16 AM

Here's some pics of a Christmas tree skirt that I finished last night. I used various Christmas fabrics that I picked out at the LQS and then made up my own pattern based on a pinwheel block. It measures 63" x 63". I just did stitch-in-the-ditch quilting on it along all of the seams.

Very nice Eddie - you must have a BIG tree for this skirt to fit under. :)

Izy 11-28-2009 09:43 AM

Thats beautiful Eddie, as always   :D

Harmony 11-28-2009 09:45 AM

Okay, seriously, Eddie, you must be some kind of quilting savant! I know you haven't been doing it for long, but you are just FEARLESS, and your work is always beautiful! I'll bet you can go into the kitchen and just start throwing things together, and it always tastes good! I'm a recipe cook, and I quilt mostly from printed patterns.

NOTE TO EDDIE'S WIFE: Get him EQ software for Christmas! Once he has it, there will be no stopping this man!

sewNso 11-28-2009 02:36 PM

so, please explain EQ softwear. electronic quilter? you know a yr or so ago on t.v. i was watching a quilting show, and she opened up the program, and talked about entering the block size, reversing the pattarn. by this i mean the layout of the quilt blocks. is anyone familiar with this softwear? and that if you made a certain size 4 patch the 4 patch on diagonal blocks will be this size. etc.

Gorgeous Eddie. Your house should be showcased with all these new Christmas quilts, wall hanging, & tree skirt. Where are you getting all this inspiration?

Eddie 11-28-2009 08:21 PM

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the kind comments! :)

Hi SewNso,

The programs differ based on the which ones you purchase, but most all of them allow you to select block styles, and make them whatever size you want, and do all kinds of interesting things with them to create a custom pattern that is just what you want. I'm hoping I can drop enough hints about EQ6 to my wife that it ends up under the tree for me at Christmas. :)

wvdek 11-28-2009 08:22 PM

so where do we purchase this EQ6's? i'v been on the interent before, and tried to search quilting softwear... etc. but, then i am tecn. challenged. since i know what it is called, maybe i can find it from some OL quilt store. my LQS, has never heard of it. etc.

Quilt4u 11-29-2009 07:24 AM

Wow!!! Beautiful quilt and tree.

sewjoyce 11-29-2009 07:38 AM

Very nice!! Looks great under the tree :D

Harmony 11-29-2009 07:44 AM

SewNSew, here's a link to the EQ site. The software is a littlle pricey and takes awhile to learn, but it's SO much fun, and practical, too! I know there are several people on this board who use it.

Eddie, just show your wife my earlier post suggesting she get you EQ for Christmas. That's about as direct a hint as you can give her! Seriously, with this software there would be no stopping you!

Iluv2quilt 11-29-2009 09:07 AM

Nice - very creative!

Esqmommy 11-30-2009 06:24 AM

What a fantabulous skirt there Eddie! Your tree is also beautiful! Very formal and pristine - almost looks like it belongs in Town & Country Magazine. My kids usually take over decorating our tree so it never looks quite right. I figure I'll get it back in a few years, so let them have their fun while they're young, right?

Merry Holidays to everyone! Great job Eddie.

Maksi 11-30-2009 09:53 AM

Awesome!

auntiehenno 11-30-2009 08:48 PM

Beautiful and the size is great. tree is lovely also.

Stitcher Jen 12-01-2009 02:14 AM

That is so beautiful! Since I'm still relatively new to quilting, I'm getting so many ideas of what I would like to have done by next Christmas.

mjsylvstr 12-01-2009 09:26 AM

Eddie,

you had better be careful.

Santa won't want to cover that beautiful skirt with gifts...

it's just too pretty to hide....

cutebuns 12-01-2009 10:39 AM

What size are your pinwheels? Thinking I might have to do one for the tree this year, we have an old skirt that I would like to give a rest, we have not even started decorating yet.

Luv2Kreate 12-01-2009 10:46 AM

Your tree and skirt are WONDERFUL!!!

JRSAY 12-01-2009 01:09 PM

You are sure putting me in the festive spirit!!!!!
