Chunky Churndash-FMQ finish!

I completed this quilt top a few months ago. It stayed that way until last night when I bought the backing. Starting around midnight I basted the quilt. Then to the machine for quilting! All of the quilts I have done up until now have been SITD. I spent some time yesterday practicing a hooks/swirls motif and decided to use that.

This will be gifted to one of my godsons.

Your Godson will love that quilt! I love the pattern, choice of fabric, and you did such a great job on the quilting! I'm amazed you can do so much work late at night...I would have to do it all over in the morning if I tried that!

I work overnights. So on my "days" off, I am usually up at night and asleep during the day. Quilting is a great hobby for 3rd shifters. Keeps me busy while the other half is sleeping!

I agree with Yooper 100%! That was the best thing I learned when I went to a FM class. I came home and told me husband he had just saved $15,000!!! :D

Your quilt and FM really is wonderful. Especially since you did so much during the night!

Great fabric and wonderful FMQ with that small throat on the DSM. I have that same machine and I can't manage the bulk of the quilt in it. You did a great job.

Wow, great job on the quilting and the quilt. It looks wonderful.

cookiemonster 02-23-2015 04:39 AM

What foot are you using on machine to quilt it? Good job! Circles are hard to master..

I used a walking foot to SITD to secure the fabrics together. Then a FMQ foot for the rest. I did the circles in three sections, they turned out better than I expected!

ladypetite 02-23-2015 04:55 AM

What a great quilt for a grandson!!! Love the color combo and your FMQ looks great!

twinkie 02-23-2015 05:08 AM

My favorite part of the quilt is all the textures of the fabric. Great quilt
