Chunky Churndash Quilt no longer a UFO

3 Attachment(s)
I made this top years ago, and it sat folded up in a closet. When I got my longarm I purposed to get it finished, finally. Still took me nearly a year to get to it. But now that it's done, I just love it. I could look at it forever.... What took me so long? :D

The pattern is "Chunky Churndash" from Quiltville.com.

It’s really beautiful. I love all the different fabrics and colors you used. Very creative.

Lovely quilt and well done finishing!

It's a very pretty quilt. I love all the colors and designs in it. My kind of quilt.

peaceandjoy 02-12-2019 08:42 AM

Love it! Years ago, I participated in Chunky Churndash swap here. It took me a while to get them into a top, and then quilted, but it came out so nice. It's a large lap sized. Some day, I'd love to do another and make a bed sized one. Amazing how the simple hour glass blocks set this off so well. the fabric you used for the hourglass blocks is perfect!

I love it too. Glad you finished it and can enjoy it everyday.

Oh my, that came out great! I love lots of color. If I tried to take a picture on the kitchen floor it would be covered in cats....or cat hair.

cashs_mom 02-12-2019 09:35 AM

I love it, too! I'm glad you finally got it finished!

It seems we always give away our quilted treasures. It is wonderful that you kept one for yourself. Pretty quilt to keep and enjoy sewbizgal.

So interesting the way you used the patterned fabric as block background--well done!

I love it too. The scrappiness makes it so inviting! Congrats on finishing it!

Annaquilts 02-12-2019 11:07 AM

Love it! It would be a great way to use to scraps. I could even see it as a Civil War fabrics.

ekuw 02-12-2019 11:08 AM

I like that you made it a "controlled" scrappy. Really the best of both worlds. I hope you are going to keep if for yourself so you can actually look at forever :D

Lovely quilt!

BSKTLOFR-QUILTER 02-12-2019 01:03 PM

First pick it up off the floor!!! :). How could you wait so long to quilt it. Oh, my, it's wonderful. I just love it too. You outdid yourself on the bg patterned fabric. You just gave me an idea for some fabric I was wondering what to do with it. Thanks so much for posting. It's a great pattern that can be really changed up into different fabric. How fun.

JustAbitCrazy 02-12-2019 02:06 PM

Chunky churndash is one on my bucket list. Yours is gorgeous. I can't see the quilting. Is it all SID?

quiltsRfun 02-12-2019 02:51 PM

That's wonderful, and now you don't have a UFO anymore!

alikigirl 02-12-2019 04:44 PM

I have one of these in my UFO's too. After seeing how great yours looks, I am going to pull mine out and do some more.

Yes... I had a soft poly batting so I decided to leave it drapey and not overquilt it. I STID on the square grid lines, the diagonal lines, and then in a T configuration in the center of the CC blocks. Just let the fabrics do the singing....

Jingle 02-12-2019 07:42 PM
