Have seen alot of quilts on pinterest like this so had to try them using my scraps, love love love civil war fabrics! Using 1 inch strips of cw fabrics and premium muslin to make the 9 patches and 2 inch squares for in between. I must be crazy! LOL

This is going to look great!
Holy moly! Those are some tiny pieces! It looks great!!! Those colors are beautiful. What a challenge.... great job.
Your work is beautiful. I could never have the patience to sew something that small, but I most certainly admire those that do. Keep on being a little bit crazy. Can't wait to see your upcoming work. Maybe it will inspire me. I've been thinking about some type of handwork piecing and about double your size of blocks would be the smallest I could consider starting with.
oh. my. yes! your blocks will be just my size!:D your quilt will be beautiful! what will be the finished size? full or mini or wall? i just finished a quilt top using cw/1800's repro fabrics. and of course ...allll scraps saved. plan --an OMG quilt :) yaaaayyyyy! can hardly wait ..also starting to plan a lucy boston patchwork of the cross pp project ..ergo i'll be set for summer time fun ...teeny tiny blocks to machine piece and paper piecing in the recliner when back won't let me sit at machine.

No, not crazy. Just amazing. It will be well worth it in the end and you have a timeless classic quilt. Beautiful!
Well you may be crazy but what a wonderful crazy. That quilt is gorgeous. Great use of Civil War fabrics.
Do you have a pattern name? I might just get a little (or a lot?) crazy one of these days too. |

Beautiful!! Hard work, but very rewarding in the end! Great job!!
You have great skill and patience.

That will be one super stupendous quilt. Can't wait to see your finished project. Civil war colors always look great.
Really sweet. Great job. How big do you plan on it being? Or is this is, you've run out of patience? :D Seriously ... really great work,
My DH thinks all quilts should be big, so I did get out the graph paper and I worked out the math for a 5' X 6' quilt i would need...... 980 9-patches and 980 2" shirting squares for between. But I have to say I am having fun making the strip sets for the 9-patches so I do already have 900 9-patches made (just not pressed open yet). I buy alot of fat quarters so that will give me alot of variety for the 2 inch squares between. Just haven't decided if I want a big quilts or lots of littles. See many kinds of 9 patch in a 9patch in a 9patch. So haven't decided. From having my big quilts quilted, I use a premium muslin for the backing. So I am using muslin scraps in the 9 patches between the cw fabrics.
A gorgeous start. Your quilt will end up gorgeous.
That's going to be great!
Just beautiful....
That is beautiful love your choice of colours
Are the 1 inch strips and 2 inch squares the cut size of the finished size?
Your work is lovely to look at. I bet in days of yore, some very careful quilters used every last little scrap of fabric on hand to make beauties like yours. I can imagine a little bag of scraps and cutting and stitching this pattern by hand. Small work with small scraps for small amounts of time at hand. Lovely start, PPquilter.

Looking good! I, too, have tubs full of these little pieces sewn together waiting for me to put together the "Ohmygosh" quilt. One of these days...good for you.
Just wonderful!
This is going to be a fantastic quilt.
Crazy, yes, but what a result.
Perhaps I will start to save 1" strings from my scraps now, (1.5" has been my smallest to date). In fact it could be something I could be doing while my granddaughter (9) is making stitch and flip string blocks as she learns to sew. |
Ditto to what has been said. This will be amazing. Can't wait to see the finished project. BrendaK

Sometimes the best come in small packages. This will be a treasure.
I love it!!! What is the name and source of the pattern? Thanks.
Sue Garman came out with a pattern called Ohmygosh, I have seen many versions on pinterest with this tiny 9 patch to ohh and ahh over.

some doll quilts....and I still have 1000+ mini 9 patches done.....
Love them all...there are beautiful...at +1000 you should have enough for almost 2 OMG quilts adding about 450 4P's and that many HST's...I've been counting! I keep mine in a big pickle jar and pin groups of 10 together and keep track on a post it stuck to the underside of the lid. I went back to sewing my 9P and 4P after seeing your lovelies!
