With your extras can you do the DP9 (Disappearing 9 patch).

Love it!!

ann clare 01-19-2011 12:05 PM

Coming along nicely. When we see a WIP it makes us realize all the love and work that goes into the making of a quilt. Thanks for sharing.

LovingIzabella 01-19-2011 12:12 PM

WOW LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Simply stunning thank you for sharing. With the leftovers can you do something similar to an Irish Chain Variation?

Very nice quilt. Aren't scrappy quilts the best?

IDquilter 01-19-2011 08:41 PM

NICE!! great job.

ctmhjenn 01-19-2011 10:11 PM

I just quilted one just like this at Christmas for a friend. She did hers all in scrappy prints with black backgrounds and the white snowballs. I did the white snowballs with a tight meander, and the rest of the quilt a looser meander, and it was beautiful if I don't mind saying so myself. I have a ton of CW fabrics, and will do one like this myself, if and why I finish the stack of patterns I have set aside to do first. lol...

pittsburgpam 01-19-2011 11:00 PM

I love that pattern. Great use of scraps.

NorBanaquilts 01-20-2011 04:01 AM

Hum, that might be a good idea

Civil war fabrics are my favorite. This is an awesome quilt. WTG!!!

StitchinJoy 01-20-2011 04:12 AM

I love this. You absolutely nailed the correct period colors.

So often we see dulled down, greyed out colors advertised as "Civil War fabrics." Yet when we look at antique scrappy quilts from the Civil War era, we often see lots of bright Turkey red, that odd yellow green, bright yellow and butterscotch, cheddar orange, a Pepto Bismol double pink, and maybe some sky-blue double blue. Sure, there are lots of nice browns and tans, but so often there is a lot of white too.

Your quilt looks spot on and you should be really proud of yourself.

About those extra 9patch blocks-- if you set them on point, they will look totally different. Please let us see what you do with those, ok?

Very impressive. Great job.

NorBanaquilts 01-20-2011 10:31 AM

Don't chuckle too hard, I've just finished sewing all the 9 patches together and there's about 60 extras. Better guard your mailbox because if I can't find another layout that I love they may just end up there!

Very very nice!! My husband has just finished a quilt in this setting in bright pinks and purples for his nieces daughter. He thinks yours looks much neater than his!!!

But it is a GREAT job.

Got an idea--How about alternating the 9P with either HST's or QST's? Here's a miniature I did a while ago with the QST setting.
