I received a box of scraps from Buddy'smom and here's what I have so far. I'm going to have a bunch of extra nine patch blocks left over, any ideas on another setting for them?
Nine patch pieces waiting to be joined together A couple of nine patch and snowball blocks ready to complete another row Here's what I have put together so far. It's just over 1/2 way done |

Wow...you are so lucky!!! I just bought a bunch, I am making a Mama's quilt using that type of fabric.
You can make a disappearing nine block with them,
Love it! Great fabrics! Great job!

I love the Civil War fabrics, and I love this quilt! Why not use your leftover 9 patches to make a table runner to go with it????
You can ALWAYS do a Disappearing 9 Patch for a table topper or a runner...those 9 patches are wonderful!! I love how this looks so far.
I'll have probably enough to do another quilt and want to use a different layout

Gorgeous! Love both the pattern and choice of colors.
I love your quilt. How about an Irish Chain with the extra 9 patches? I have some 9 patches that I was thinking about doing an Irish Chain with, but I like yours with the snowballs better!
Pretty, pretty! I love CW and I like the scrappy too...great combo!
Wow! love it! Great colours!
Wow I can hardly wait to see this one done. Send another pic. please.
Oooo, I LOVE your quilt! That is going to be fabulous when it's done!
Jacob's Ladder has some nine patches in it- I love that pattern, it looks really complicated when you get it done, but it is not... I love your quilt- thanks for sharing.
Oh that's beautiful!! :D
Looks great-it'll be beautiful quilted
Lookin' great! Show us when it gets done!

I think sewing the remaining 9 patches in a vertical strip setting, with solid vertical strips in between the 9 patch strips is authentic. Does that make sense? Not sure how to describe it, but I can picture it in my head... sorry, Im tired... Wonderful quilt, by the way.

I Love it!

ditto

Not enough for another full quilt, but a good start on one. Have you thought of using them in the backing? The could be borders, sashing, etc., you can use to divide up different fabrics if you piece a scrappy backing.
Beautiful quilt, BTW. The colors are just wonderful. That was quite a gift you received. |

Lovely.
I really love your Civil War scrappy quilt. How are you going to finish it?
Love it! I am working on a scrappy quilt right now too....It is so freeing after sticking to strict patterns for a while.
I would use the extra 9 patches and do another simple one with plain middle blocks (like this: http://www.ttfabrics.com/patterns/do...rt-Pattern.pdf but scrappy) eta: even 30-35 could make a good start for an inside with borders! |
Love it!
Looking GREAT!
It's going to have a thin border of the off white used in the snowball blocks and a Purple border (All the corners of the snowballs are purple.)
