Hi Everyone, I have finished 22 block so far and will be sewing some more right now. I am including some pics of some of the blocks up close so you can see how pretty some of this fabric is. I made a couple rogue blocks. That means that I am using all florals for an entire block except the HST that will join the background. I tried this just in case I run out of mediums and darks and they look good. If I end up with a bunch of them, I will scatter them through the quilt when I set up. I am really enjoying making this quilt. The first two are the rogues, the other ones show a fussy cut in the middle and then the 22 together.

Great start for a special quilt. I think the fabric choices are very pretty. I also like the technique you are using for make the flying geese. I don't like cutting off all those corners and saving them-for what? This way you don't have that wasted fabric. Keep up the beautiful work.

Rosyhf 04-11-2015 01:27 PM

Thanks QP, yes, this is no waste, I just cut the squares and cut in half and PP.

lynnie 04-11-2015 01:29 PM

love your blocks

wildyard 04-11-2015 01:55 PM

Your fabrics and blocks are lovely, that can only make a lovely quilt when the time comes.

Rosyhf 04-21-2015 04:17 PM

I have made 34 blocks so far, 30 to go. I will post those when I get them done.

Welcome back! You are a wonderful friend to do this your friend that can't sew anymore! I'd like a friend like you! That will be a lovely quilt full of love when you are finished. I'm sure she will love it. You method sounds easy but I am very visual and I would need step by step, however. Is the pp block for the geese is on the quilter's cache?

PenniF 04-21-2015 05:30 PM

What great fabrics....this is going to be a beautiful quilt.
And i agree with you Rosy....i could never get the accuracy with regular piecing that i can get with PP'ing.....and the time i spend ripping paper is more than made up by the speed with which i can sew the pattern. (and if i'm lucky, sometimes i can get a helper when it comes to tearing off the paper)
I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished project....your friend will be so thrilled, i'm sure.

just_the_scraps_m'am 05-09-2015 02:48 PM

those blocks all together are making one great floral quilt!

Rosyhf 05-17-2015 12:47 PM

Oh Lord, I have finished the blocks, sewed them together, quilt top done, not!!! I realize that 1/4 blocks go around the quilt hahahaha....I need another divisions. I made one side and attached it already. They don't really take that long, just a whole day lol.

While reading the board, I found an inspiration tho. Log cabin blocks, all floral on one side and something else on the other side...but not doing that right now, need something else lol.....

Rosyhf 05-19-2015 11:41 AM

I found a diversion lol....will post later.

Tapraol 05-20-2015 12:05 PM

I hope to have it done this week including the binding and I will post it then all done for you to see. doing a happy dance right now lol.....

Here is a pic of the finished. It took about three months because I took lots of diversions and breaks from it lol. I used three different florals for the back.

Looks very good!

maviskw 07-05-2015 06:23 AM

I didn't read all of the posts, but if you are making eight of each kind, the "No Waste" way of making flying geese is the way to go. Very easy and very accurate, with no fabric waste. Google "No Waste Flying Geese" and you should get the directions.

jennygrit 07-05-2015 08:07 AM

Love the blocks. And you are so smart to have made those patterns easier.

Annz 07-05-2015 08:39 AM

Very nice.
