Cock-a-doodle-doo!
1 Attachment(s)
I have a sister who has her kitchen decorated with roosters. I'd found this cheater panel at a LQS and couldn't resist. I did separate the squares and the red and corner posts are pieced but the squares around the centers are part of the panel. I really like how it turned out with the red sashing between the squares and I tried a new binding technique where you use two colors for the binding and it's done entirely by machine (most of my UFO's are done except for the hand stitching on the binding!) Here's the link to the method I used for the binding: http://mylifeasaquilter.blogspot.com...christmas.html
Thanks for looking! |

Looks very good.

Simple!!!!! Not....love it. I wish it were mine. Love all the animal. Thanks for showing.
Lucky sister! Those are handsome looking roosters... Your binding looks great - would you use that technique again?
Very cute!!!

Very nice. That is the only type of binding I do on my quilts now. Fast, easy and I think it adds a lot to the overall looks of the quilts. I found I had to play around a little with the size of strips, due to the very thin batting I use because of Florida heat. I use Quilters Dream Request loft. I also played around with the width of the seam where I sewed it to the back. Once I got that the way I wanted, I never looked back! LOL I love your table runner. I'm a fan of Roosters and love the color red. I'm sure your sis will love it.
I just checked out the link and my flange binding has different measurements. My main binding is cut at 1 1/2" and flange 1 3/4". Jenny Doan from MSQC has a good tutorial on flange binding on you tube. |
I've seen that binding technique before and really liked it. It works great with your roosters, which are adorable.
That is so cute! Your sister will love it.
Love your rooster table runner, & I'm sure your sister will enjoy that on her table. I like roosters as well. :)
Handsome fellows!! ;)
Looks great!!
Your quilt is beautiful and i love the way you did the binding. Thanks for sharing the binding instructions.
Really like the red and black.
I really like your rooster quilt. I like the idea of incorporating panels and portions of panels into projects. They might be short cuts (I don't regard them as cheaters), they just have a different feel and look in a project. I know your gift will be loved.
very nice and simple. Nothing wrong with that. she's going to love that.

The red sashing makes it perfect! The flange binding by machine is my new favorite to do option to get something finished quickly.

Love it!! And there is nothing wrong with panels!! I love to use them as they have more variety than I can make. I would love this if it was in brown/tan tones!! Someone holler if you see one in browns!!! LOL
