Comfort quilt for a friend
1 Attachment(s)
A fellow parishioner approached me on Easter Sunday and told me she was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. So many friends have been affected : ( So, when I got home I searched in my stack of "to be quilted" and found this lap quilt that I had made from 12 left over blocks and enough extra fabric to add a pieced border. I worked all week to sandwich, quilt and bind so I could give it to her the following Sunday. The label reads, "HOPE is being able to see that there is LIGHT despite all the darkness. Don't let the tall weeds cast a shadow on the flowers in your garden! From one cancer warrior to another." She was surprised and pleased and I pray it will keep her warm during chemo and surround her with love and support.

What a wonderful gift for your friend

Thank you!

That is a beautiful quilt. You have done a great thing to give it to her. They do get cold! I love the quilt.
That is lovely and thoughtful!
Well done. I'll say a prayer for your friend, too.
Lifting up prayers for your friend during this time. That is such a beautiful gift you have given to her.
Love your quilt but most of all your heart. It's so good you had this pieced and top together already. May God bless you both
What a lovely project, lovely thought, and lovely label. Well done :)
I so appreciate all the quiet gifts and acts of kindness quilters do. |
Great comfort quilt and gift!
Marvelous gift. Thanks for spreading your love through your community.:o
You are a true friend to give this support !
Your quilt will bring your friend warmth and comfort.
Lovely quilt. I'm sure it will comfort her as she walks through the storm. It's great to have something nearly completed for those times when you hear the call.
What a great friend you are. Your quilt is just what your friend needs.
It's just perfect. Knowing people care and having their support will get her a long way in her healing process. Thanks for posting. I made my son a cancer survivor quilt this past winter to celebrate him being cancer free. His was HPV of the throat and at 54 he was diagnosed. Several other patients had the same cancer in their late 60s.
What a heartfelt and thoughtful gift. It will provide a great deal of comfort to her.
What a wonderful and beautiful quilt and such an inspiring message for your friend. Prayers for her.
Great quilt. Your friend knows she is loved!
She will be wrapped in love every time she uses it. You do get cold during chemotherapy. Best of luck and prayers for her and family.
Lovely quilt. I can envision it done up in children's prints for a Project Linus quilt. Would you happen to remember the name of the pattern/book? Any information would be helpful.
That is a beautiful quilt and will keep your friend warm when she has chemo. Beautiful label too.
How kind of you. It's a beautiful quilt.
Nice support quilt.
Beautiful quilt that will give comfort from the kindness in your heart.
So glad you included green as green is the color of hope. Beautiful quilt and I am sure your friend will feel loved and blessed to have your friendship.
Your quilt is beautiful, and what a loving and caring gift.
How cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So beautiful!! Such kindness!
That beautiful quilt will comfort and encourage your friend, I’m sure. Pray she is totally healed!
I agree with the above sentiment. IMHO, there is no more caring or giving group of people than quilters.
Beautiful. I am sure it will bring comfort and joy.
A beautiful quilt. I know she'll love and appreciate it. I love the pattern! What's the name of your pattern?
The quilt was a kit from Connecting Threads called Picnic Party. I looked to see if it was available as a free download as I have had it for awhile, but to no avail. It is pretty easy however: flying geese with opposite color ways and 4 patches surrounding a square. Good luck. Glad you liked it.
Heartfelt gift. I know she appreciates it.❤️🙏
Such a beautiful gift. I hope your friend will be healed in His Name!
That quilt should provide comfort. I am hearing about so many with colon cancer. So sad. Lost a dear friend 2 yrs ago. He had just turned 60.
Ditto to all that has been said. Prayers go out to her on her journey. BrendaK
