Controlled scrappy WIP

1 Attachment(s)
I still just can't get my head around really, truely, scrappy so this is my version of scrappy :p. I really don't like brown and I have idea how I ended up with so may brown scraps, but I saw this on http://quiltville.blogspot.com.au/20...e-blossom.html and someone had posted a picture of their version done in browns and creams and thought that it looked quite nice (even though it is BROWN LOL)
So far I have done 20 blocks but I think I will make another 10 and have it 5 blocks x 6 blocks. Not sure if I will do sashing or just put them together as is.
It felt so good just to have some time to sit down and sew, I haven't had much time lately and just doing these felt wonderful  :) :D

I like how it is. IMHO no sashing. Nice points.

Girlfriend 11-02-2012 10:13 PM

Nice job! Love the pattern.

busy fingers 11-02-2012 10:59 PM

Very nice. I would leave out the sashing. I like the way the diamonds form where the blocks meet.

earthwalker 11-03-2012 12:51 AM

Beautiful. I think I would leave out the sashing too....The secondary pattern is so pretty.

lisalovesquilting 11-03-2012 01:04 AM

I would leave out sashing. It would ruin the secondary pattern.

Tartan 11-03-2012 01:28 AM

I like your blocks just the way you have them layed out. That is going to make a great quilt. I too am true scrappy challenged.

orangeroom 11-03-2012 01:48 AM

You're too funny with your 'brown and all!' I like it. Nice job!

Donna H-M 11-03-2012 02:59 AM

Very pretty. I can't do scrappy either. I've been planning on making the same quilt using my blue scraps. I have also decided not to do sashing. I like it better without. Very nicely done

gsbuffalo 11-03-2012 03:00 AM

loveit and thanks for including the link. might be able to did out scraps later today and give it a whirl

leatheflea 11-03-2012 03:24 AM

I was just looking at that pattern yesterday on her site, love it in the browns!

QUILTNMO 11-03-2012 03:28 AM

i think its very nice like the colors good job!!!

QuiltnNan 11-03-2012 03:42 AM

nicely done... i wouldn't add the sashing as the blocks make the secondary pattern without it.

DebraK 11-03-2012 03:47 AM

who knows, this may be the pattern that converts you scrappy world ;-) Looks great.

JenDale 11-03-2012 03:51 AM

really like this quilt, and I would leave out the sashings...looks perfect as it is....the browns are really nice.

jansquiltn 11-03-2012 03:53 AM

No sashing. It is beautiful. I'm not a brown fan either. Glad to see I'm not the only one up in the middle of the night. So nice to have quiet an time to sew.

Tweety2911 11-03-2012 04:00 AM

Beautiful! Love how the design creates movement. I would keep the blocks as they are without sashing! This is going to be gorgeous when done!

asimplelife 11-03-2012 04:06 AM

I'm in the leave out the sashing group too. Can't say that the idea of doing a brown quilt would inspire me much but I love yours so I would be wrong! It's beautiful.

Diane007 11-03-2012 04:33 AM

LOL
l also vote not sashing

nice pattern

Sdwill 11-03-2012 04:45 AM

Very nice. I agree with everyone else, leave the sashing out.

BeckySt 11-03-2012 04:49 AM

that is a great scrappy!!

Scraplady 11-03-2012 04:55 AM

Scrappy's are my hands-down favorite. It's looking great, and at the risk of being redundant, definitely no sashing.

catladyquilts 11-03-2012 05:14 AM

for someone who doesn't like brown, you made a wonder quilt from it. I really like it

PaperPrincess 11-03-2012 05:20 AM

Love it. I agree with the 'no sashing' comments, looks great as it is. I also am a big fan of the controlled scrappy look, either by limiting the colors, or having a repeating element in a neutral color.

kateyb 11-03-2012 05:37 AM

I think that is a very nice looking quilt. I like browns. I think this would be a good quilt for a man. So many men like the more subdued look.

cowgirlquilter 11-03-2012 05:45 AM

Oh my goodness these are absolutely gorgeous! Wow I think you should be proud!

Lady Jane 11-03-2012 05:46 AM

That is going to be a very pretty quilt.

wolph33 11-03-2012 06:11 AM

Kathy T. 11-03-2012 06:29 AM

I like browns and I'm gonna LOVE that quilt when it's finished!

GramaLaura 11-03-2012 06:34 AM

Oh it's going to be beautiful!!! You are so talented :)

laurafet 11-03-2012 11:29 AM

Love it, and I am not a fan of brown either. Great job. I would not sash, but border with the darkest and lightest for the contrast.

Bluelady 11-03-2012 11:33 AM

Beautiful! I am not that fond of brown either, but they look awesome in this pattern. I would say no sashing too.

Sandra in Minnesota 11-03-2012 11:48 AM

Love it just the way it is.

Rosewood9 11-03-2012 11:53 AM

Lori S 11-03-2012 12:01 PM

Maybe this will bring you over to the scrappy side!?! Its a wonderful scrappy... and I know you have heard this but no sashing for this one. It a fabulous pattern without it.
