That looks really nice and very warm.

Wow! That looks very cozy! You've done a terrific job!

I love the fact you made this from scraps that have a family history. Not only does your quilt look great, it seems to be sturdy enough for a rough and tumble little guy.
I think it will just get softer and softer after many washings, too!

Thanks Marmalade.

Is it not strange that I was cutting more corduroy squares today to make at least one lap quilt for my daughter and likely make a queen size for myself. If I have enough, I may make one for each of my sons also. My goal is to use up all of the corduroy that I have accumlated. I did buy some flannel giraffe print for the backing (it was cheap). I thought the giraffe print would add a little whimsey to the quilts.

beautiful quilt, reminds me of the quilts my grandma use to make.

I don't find that strange at all Caroline! I hope you have enough to be able to make quilts for your sons, too!
I like your whimsical sense with the girafffe flannel. It's those little "twists" that bring out the smiles ....Keep us posted on your progress.

Love it! I made a rag quilt with corduroy fabric - it was very hard to do with all the seams. This seams easier.

Demshine 04-03-2011 07:32 PM

What kind of batting did you use?

Caroline S 04-03-2011 09:21 PM

I used some high loft poly batting that was in my stash. The seams were pressed open and I stitched over the seams with a herringbone stitch with different colors of thread. I then machine quilted it diagonally across the squares. The backing was some plaid flannel from my stash. I still might have enough of the plaid flannel for a lap quilt. The binding was some light weight denim also from the stash.
