I like 2. Plenty of opportunity for quilting in the light squares.

#2 gets my vote!

I like #1 because I like movement in a quilt and your eye moves around and the brain fills in the blanks. It makes you look very cleaver! I agree that you should play around with the blocks more, but if given a choice between the two, my pick is #1!!!

#1 would be my choice. But, please look for different lay outs.
