County Fair

I entered this quilt in our County Fair and won 3rd place. A Bargello won first place and it was gorgeous!!! I really thought I'd place second since mine was all quilted by hand so I was a little disappointed but there's always next year!! :)

You should be very happy with a win of any kind because there are many other that went home without a ribbon. Yours is beautiful and is a first winner in your list of quilts. Is there a separate category for hand quilting? If not there should be. Keep up the good work.

I've been saying for years, there needs to be two seperate catagories, hand and machine quilting.

I always prefer hand quilted quilts. When machine quilting first came out, they displayed them in a certain section. Now I would like to see hand quilted quilts have their own section.

that's a lovely quilt. In our fair, machine and hand quilting are separate categories. We just got separation on embroidery. It might not hurt to ask who sets up the categories. My guild runs the fair's show, pays the prize money and hires the outside, licensed judge, so although judging is independent, categories are not and fit the trends in local submissions.

I agree with you totally. Now in our quilt show, I believe that quilts that use machine embroidery should be separate from hand embroidery blocks. But, I guess we have to limit our awards since we are a small group. (40 members)

I also wanted to tell you that I love your quilt and admire your patience doing hand quilting.

Your quilt is lovely and congratulations on your ribbon. Some shows have separate categories for hand and machine quilting, but some do not. I scribed for a certified judge who made the comment that well done is well done no matter the technique.

Love your quilt and am so glad you won a prize. Hand quilting is an art all in itself. You can be very proud of your work. I have not had the nerve to enter one of my quilts in a fair but would sure like to. Seems like I always give them away before any fair comes close!!
