A couple fun ideas
2 Attachment(s)
The jeans are denim. I took a Chlorine Stick (stain removal stick) and drew my feather motifs on the jeans. I put newspaper inside of the pant leg so not to go through to the backside. I let it work until I liked the look, then rinsed in a tub of water. Then I neutralized the chlorine by using a product that was meant to condition the water for fish tanks readily available even at Walmart.
The second is my watch band. I drew the design two inches wide and my wrist measurement plus 12 inch and the overlap for the velcro long. I paper pieced right on the the quadrilled paper that I drew my pattern onto. |
Both projects are very creative! Thanks for sharing! :)

Very neat. I saw someone on TV using a gel bleach to write on a shirt. It stayed where they put it and made a very clear line. After seeing your jeans, I am going to look to see if I can find the gel bleach. I'm thinking you could put it any squeeze bottle. An old glue bottle or hair colour bottle? I am thinking of trying it on fabric. Your watch band is very cute too!

Love your watch band. Reminds me of the band my mother made out of elastic for me when the original band broke. Yours is much prettier, however.
Great items; I've also been thinking of a quilted watchband or bracelet.
Love your idea.
Great feathered jeans and love the denim band!
You have a very creative mind! Kudos!
Clever!! but i'd really like to see the pink quilt behind it all. Gorgeous feathers on that.

I made some shirts with my 10yr old daughter. We used strait bleach with some Q-tips to draw whatever we wanted. I also used blue painters tape to put a design and used my household spray bleach cleaner around it (like a stencil). Both ideas turned out really well! Tips: we put cardboard in between layers to keep it from bleeding through and give the bleach time to work, it will get lighter after a few minutes. If you get impatient you'll end up with it getting lighter than you wanted. |
Very creative, particularly like the watch strap
Yes you are clever. I love your ideas.
You are one smart cookie. Thk for sharing. Love both
Love the feathers on the jeans! I remember doing something like that for my daughters many, many years ago when they wanted to by a brand of jeans that ran bleached trails on their jeans and sold them for HUGE amounts of money. I refused to purchase the expensive jeans but recreated them myself. Yours are beautiful. Wear them with pride!
My sister accidentally spilled bleach on my favourite shirt once. She was crying when she showed me the big blob. I decided it looked like an eyebrow and grabbed a paint brush and finished making the face. It will be 10 years next year and I still wear the shirt.
What clever ideas. I love the jeans one may try it myself. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
