They're both fantastic. I'm really drawn to the Creme Brûlée- the way you've worked with the Tim Holtz fabrics to achieve the illusion of transparent layers is amazing!

Thank you Rob for your comment. I was drawn to that particular layer cake several years ago but never knew what to do with it until I saw a quilt made with them last year in a show.

newbee3 I'm sure you could make one equally nice, never say never.

I really like the creme brûlée quilt the best. I too have a very hard time with scrappy it just doesn’t compute for my brain. Don’t get me wrong I think they’re beautiful once I see what someone else has put together I just can’t seem to do it properly. That’s probably why my scraps have just exploded! Maybe one day soon I’ll challenge myself to do a small one to start.

Currently I'm making Carpenter Wheel blocks. Each one has 64 - 2.5" square pieces, 52 of which are half square triangles. After making all those half square pieces, I mix them up, put them in a very large bag, shake well, then randomly pull out - without looking - the required number to make the block. Unless I grab like fabrics, I just go with it, seems to help overcome the brain trying to make everything match. Maybe give it a try, start small enough though.
