These are some things I'm selling at 2 craft shows in Oct.
Any clue on prices?
I'm thinking 8/9 for pillowcases.
12 for tablerunners
3/4 for hot pads/trivets
$1 for fabric bookmarks
8 for the tag blankets
20 or 25 for rag rugs
Too much or too little?

tablerunners, not quilted

hooked rug, and a rug made with clothesline and then zigzagged together

I'll be watching this. I need to know also!

craftybear 08-31-2011 03:37 PM

I would say great prices, hope you sell alot

Jim's Gem 08-31-2011 03:59 PM

How big did you make your ribbons on your tag blanket?

Sandi19 08-31-2011 04:01 PM

They stick out 2 inches. Is that too long? I've only made two so far, and can make the other ones shorter if that's better.

mesue 08-31-2011 04:03 PM

I think you could get more for your rugs. They are a lot of work and I think you might be underpricing them at that cost.

debcavan 08-31-2011 04:19 PM

They all look great. I wish you much success

piepatch 08-31-2011 04:38 PM

Love everything you have done, but I think I love the rag rugs best. I Have always loved those things!

Glassquilt 08-31-2011 04:41 PM

Prices are regional.

I don't know. I have not made any but plan to make some for my grandson and I wondered the best size to make the ribbon

1000projects 08-31-2011 04:54 PM

Have you calculated your fabric cost on the pillow cases? I am concerned you may be giving them away.

Susanna10 08-31-2011 05:00 PM

Way too little for rag rugs. Those are beautiful rugs. I love rag rugs.

hopetoquilt 08-31-2011 05:05 PM

I looked at a few paper bookmarks at a local bookstore. They sold for $10. Maybe 1.50 or 2 for the bookmarks?

GGinMcKinney 08-31-2011 05:06 PM

We sold tablerunners a lot like yours for $15. easily last Nov.

Crqltr 08-31-2011 05:20 PM

I sell my pillow cases for at least ten..and I also think more for the rugs, lots of work in them and harder to get.

0tis 08-31-2011 05:30 PM

I would figure out how much it costs to make each item - I think you are not going to cover your costs - I buy fabric for $6.00 - 10.00 yd - you really must figure out what it costs first - just to make sure you aren't selling at a loss. Good luck.

lfstamper 08-31-2011 05:31 PM

Very cute - I am sure they will sell fast.

brenda21 08-31-2011 05:32 PM

all are pretty I think prices are good

buckeyed 08-31-2011 05:32 PM

Hope you sell all your crafts...

GagaSmith 08-31-2011 05:42 PM

Here's a link to a tut on making tag quilts that I used. It says to cut the ribbons 2 1/2 - 3 inches then iron them in half. I think yours look fine.

Most of my fabric I got for half price at LQS, so about $5/yd. Maybe I should do 9 or 10? I know a kit for them runs $12. This area has so much unemployment, but I'm thinking a lot of the items will sell to retirees who are buying for grandkids. I don't want to sell too cheap, but I also don't want to be greedy about it. I've basically been making things since I'm retired and love doing it...not really looking to make money, but also don't want to undercut other crafters. That's why I want to be very fair about the prices. Thanks for the advice. This is why I put things on the site...to get other opinions. I've never sold things before.

blueangel 08-31-2011 05:55 PM

Wish you good luck.

4EVERquilt 08-31-2011 05:57 PM

Everything is sooo cute. You'll be sure to sell.

0tis 08-31-2011 06:18 PM

I had a craft sale last fall - I figured out that my pillowcases cost me about $ 18.00 each - I was shocked - they take 3/4 of a yard of fabric for the body and another 1/4 yard for the sleeve - so that is one yard per pillowcase - and a little bit for an accent piece - this is not counting any labor (we will never get that back). So I am just warning you that its surprising how much it really costs to produce those items. I am like you - I enjoy making things and don't care if I make much money - most of the time I give things away. Good luck.

Painiacs 08-31-2011 06:55 PM

Good luck sell tons!!

cjr 08-31-2011 07:16 PM

Pillow cases take almost a yard of fabric. yes quick to make, but fabric averages $10.00/ yd.

Table runners, even the 10 minute one take 2 fabrics, almost a yd total. Again fast project.

Rag rugs are beautiful. Unless everyone is making them price higher, lots of labor in them.

Good luck.

I do a lot of craft shows. It is always hasrd to know what will sell. If you price higher, you can always offer a 20% OFF THE LAST 2 HOURS OF SHOW.

smagruder 09-01-2011 03:32 AM

Don't know about the others but fabric for pillowcases run me more than $8

theresa.redington 09-01-2011 03:43 AM

Sounds good, because I always unsell what I make.....

Latrinka 09-01-2011 03:52 AM

Very cute items! No help with pricing, I hate pricing!

Judith 09-01-2011 04:27 AM

I think you're right on with your prices. Hope you sell lots.

Sewfine 09-01-2011 04:49 AM

The only thing I have really sold is table runners and here they go $15 - $20. Good luck!! All are beautiful.

Kitsapquilter 09-01-2011 05:22 AM

I made pillowcases last year to put in craft shows and I priced mine at $16.50 for a pair or $8.00 for one. Mine did not sell too good. Don't think it was the price. People just not looking for pillowcases. Hope yours do better. I sure would not go any less on them. Your prices sound more that fair to me on everything.

SandraD 09-01-2011 05:42 AM

Your prices seem VERY reasonable...you'll probably sell tons!

bj riley 09-01-2011 05:43 AM

great stuff! the little rugs are wonderful, must have been a lot of work!

Lori S 09-01-2011 06:46 AM

I suggest you go to a few comparable shows to see what the pricing is like in your area. Not only check the prices , but look to see what is selling . You can put any price ...but will it sell at that price?! So do a bit of investigating it is worth it.

Meme2six 09-01-2011 08:23 AM

I've nothing to recommend as to prices, but thank you for sharing what you are making. I'm making mug rugs for my mother's Sunday School class and think I will include a bookmark as well.

Ribbon loops can pose a choking danger for little ones, also buttons, fringes, beads, and most other embellishments. Something to keep in mind when making things for babies.

NitaM39 09-01-2011 08:53 AM

I have a question about your rugs. Do you tell people that the one made with clothesline is washable? I make lots of clothesline bowls, trivets, placemats, but I don't recommend washing them and drying in dryer. I tell them they should be hand washed (or maybe washed on delicate cycle) and then hung to dry. The one placemat I put into the dryer came out a little warped.

dphelps 09-01-2011 10:57 AM

The rugs are great. Maybe more for those as well. Your prices are very reasonable.

dltaylor 09-01-2011 11:10 AM
