Crayon quilt

In searching for a pattern for this fun quilt, I found lots of variations posted on this board, mostly from 2015. I incorporated some of your great ideas and came up with my version. It's going next weekend to a baby shower for a little guy, due in January. Lots of fun to make, and I only "had" to buy a few orange & red ft quarters ("had to" because of course buying new fabric is such a chore!). Everything else, including the backing & binding, was in my stash just waiting to be put to use.

Well done! I got my Colour Me pattern as a free insert in one of my quilt magazine. I did mine with black background and my grand niece loved it.

This is sew kool. Did you use 2.5" strips? I have been thinking about making a quilt like this for a long time. Think I want to make an I Spy Crayon quilt. BrendaK

That is super cute. It would be a wonderful teaching tool and the little fellow to whom it was given is ready to learn his colors. You had lots of lovely fabric scraps to use.

Cute as can be. This is on my inspiration ideas list.

sewbeeit42 11-19-2017 01:43 PM

It looks as if you have a train lover in your house with the O gauge tracks seen in the photo. Were they willing to let you move their layout for your layout?

Jules51 11-19-2017 06:07 PM

Very cute quilt. The lucky little baby will enjoy all those bright colors!

Blueridgebeverly 11-20-2017 05:01 AM

Great baby quilt! Looking for a pattern. Thank you for sharing!

Tartan 11-20-2017 06:16 AM

For those looking for a pattern, it was by Emily Herrick and the name was Color Me Happy. I got my copy in a free insert with American Patchwork in 2014 but I altered the original to the short crayons. It is a pattern the is pretty easy to figure out on your own and there are many neat versions here on QB.
