These two table toppers were made from a pattern that I picked up at a quilt show. They were fun to make - they are larger, 42 x 42. My pattern was called crazy eight strip teasers - I have seen different pattern names on this thread.

They were made for my mother and mother in laws birthday. I picked the material for my mother, and my dear husband picked out the material for his mom. I think he did a good job.

I just LOVE that pattern! Can it be made using pre-cut 2.5" strips? Or are the strips some other size?

Can it be made from 8 - FQs?

those are really stunning! And they won't be able to say that you are playing favorites either since they are equally beautiful. Does your mother and mother-in-law keep track? LOL

Favorite Fabrics/Nan - are you thinking of making kits for this pattern? How about kits for bow tucks too?

RedGarnet222 10-04-2010 07:56 AM

Actually, I was thinking that the table would be excellent for kits... figuring that a customer could invest in the pattern once, and then after that, just buy a kit of fabrics that would allow you to make one of these for every season or reason.

Had not though about bow tucks, though.

amma 10-04-2010 11:22 AM

WOW!!! Your mother's are going to be very excited over these gifts :D:D:D

belmer 10-04-2010 11:42 AM

stunning,great colors,great job

quilter girl 10-04-2010 12:14 PM

You cannot use fat quarters - you need the width of the fabric. The strips were from 8 - 1/4 yard of different fabrics (you need the full 9 inches) 1 1/2" wide - my instructions told me not to pre wash the fabric and to leave the selvage on. It wasn't hard to make - the binding was a bit challenging - but I got it done. I know others on the thread haven't bound theirs - but I prefer a more finished look. Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Now that's an awesome thought, I love decorating for the holidays and when I ordered it I thought of doing one in Xmas fabrics....kits just the thing as it's the color combos that strike me. Being fairly new to quilting I have trouble putting together fabrics. I've been told it'll get easier ;)

Quiltgranny 10-04-2010 03:56 PM

Absolutely gorgeous!!

Lynneander 10-04-2010 04:10 PM

Those are so beautiful! I have been admiring that pattern for a while ... how difficult/easy it is to make?

Jim's Gem 10-04-2010 04:16 PM

Beautiful!!!!

Evelynquilts 10-04-2010 04:25 PM

They`re both beautiful...

moonangel12 10-04-2010 04:33 PM

I have never bought just one pattern before, I guess b/c there are always so many free ones, but I really like this one! Is it really that easy to do?? I have an idea how it would be done, but I know a pattern would make it that much easier... they would definitely make cute gifts!

quilter girl 10-04-2010 05:36 PM

Yes it is easy to do. If you can sew accurate 1/4" seams, then get brave enough with your ruler to cut the strips your set to go. My pattern showed a picture of each step. You can do it!

LC1562 10-04-2010 05:41 PM

Love the colors--great job!!

Uh... well... it does get easier to put fabrics together, but... if you have too many to choose from (too much stash?) you can get to the "analysis paralysis" stage. Which isn't much better!

hcarpanini 10-04-2010 06:37 PM

I really like those!

sewnsewer2 10-04-2010 06:53 PM
