Your new member does beautiful work. A long time friend is giving GD and me her wedding dress to make into crazy quilts for her grand children. Her husband of 40 something years got crazy and left her for an old girlfriend. Now her wedding dress has sad memories for her, but I told her that her grand daughters would enjoy having it as a quilt because it would be a part of her to them. Our sewing machine has a lot of stitches that I plan to use, but the hand stitches are really beautiful. Just always time constraints for me. I hope she will have a day to spend with us when we are working on this project. As always thanks for your time in posting this beautiful work.

I'm looking forward to you doing it too. I've not been a big fan of "crazy quilts", but those are so pretty! I'm not sure I have the skill set to do all that by hand though. I know I can't do it like she does!

Butterflyspain 10-14-2010 07:21 AM

Patti you donīt necessarily have to do it by hand you have a brilliant machine with great fancy stitches and you can use those.

SandyMac 10-14-2010 07:50 AM

Just beautiful :-D

Try contacting a dressmaker in your area, who doesn't quilt. Often there are lots of pieces left over that are great for quilting but not the right shapes to be useable for clothing.

You could try a curtain shop, they oftenhave offcuts.

These are very nice, I have done simlar block, made a wall hanging.. I talked
DH into a expensive sewing machine just for the special stitches LOL..I used Fun-dation blank foundation sheets you can put thru your printer and it's easy once you get use to it.. Here is where you can find it:
