Very nice work, and the colors are exactly perfect!! I think they will love having it at the Memorial.
Oh my word, it is beautiful. I can see why you are having trouble giving it away. It is truely lovely. Just think of the pleasure it will give at the memorial.
awsome!!!!!!!!!!
I have a problem. I usually only make one quilt when I design it so it is an original. The pattern in the middle of the top between pictures is what they call a seminole pattern. The borders is done using French Braid and the arrows are done by just using two squares and cutting them to make the points.

Chief Crazy Horse and all descendants would be honored.
Beautiful quilt. |

This is my new store link for those that are interested. |
I love that quilt! I love reading books pertaining to Native American culture, it has always fascinated me. You did a wonderful job.

I am amazed at the simple beauty of your quilt. It is respectful, and emotional and at the same time calming and healing. It might be the addition of the awesome pencil drawings... maybe the spirit of the white buffalo. At any rate a wonderful gift.

What a truly special quilt. Such a wonderful pc. of history. I have a hard time parting with anything I make which is why my closet shelf is piled with my quilted projects.
At least you'll know your quilt will be enjoyed by lots of people. Pat |

Your quilt took my breath away. My son and his family live in Rapid City so we have been to the memorial. You have inspired me to make my own quilt with Crazy Horse as a theme. Thank you for the inspiration. The quilt is beautiful.

It's beautiful! The fabric colors are perfect for the pencil drawings. We were at the memorial a few years ago. It's an awesome thing to see.
Thank you. I'm going to make another quilt with Darrell Spotted Horse's drawings. He has some of Eagles, one with the Eagle and a Buffalo calf, and of course the one that has the skull and Buffalo Head. In all there are 4 that I can use on his site. He has one on there that doesn't print out clear, so I may have to have him mail me a good copy of it.
My husband would love this! Beautiful!
Wow, love your quilt. Are those pictuers from postcards? As I have lots of old postcards.
No the pictures came from Darrell Spotted Horse of Wakpala, SD. He drew them, he sells tee shirts on his website with the drawings. He also does carricatures or cartoon characters. The little ones on the side of the buffalo lying down were paintings from Victoria Wilson-Schultz of Elk River, MN and they are licensed. Therefore, I can't sell it but can show it or donate it to a non-profit. Both parties have websites. Victoria gets good money for her paintings and does beautiful work.
I forgot Craftybear, thank you. You could use those postcards though for a quilt. I've used pictures of tractors for some of mine also.
I really LOVE this quilt! It is lovely! You should enter it in a show!
I plan on it before taking it up to Crazy Horse. Thanks.
What a cool and historical quilt. I think it's great.
Thanks.

I showed hubby your quilt and we both just love everything about it. I is just stunning. thank you so much for sharing. Penny

Very special quilt, it has a spiritual essence to it that really comes through. They are very fortunate to receive such a gift. Fantastic job!
Someday in the future I have some special fabric saved for making a Native American themed quilt. I have a hard time with patterns. So far most of mine are just originals. I don't know if anything I would ever make could ever compare to yours...Outstanding... |
Mine are originals also. I never make a duplicate of the same. I start out with the pictures or panels and design around them.
It was really fun designing this one and I hope to enter it in a show before I take it up to Crazy Horse. I'm working on another with buffalo now, decided the pattern was to busy so have to split up the fill in with black so it looks better. It's not talking to me like the other one did, lol. |
We visited crazy horse when our children were young. this is beautiful. I am impressed by the photos. very beautiful.
Well I called Crazy Horse Monument and they said because of insurance reasons they don't take displays that belong to other people. And because one of the artists that did the buffalo on the sides and hers being licensed, I will have to remove her pictures so I can sell it. So meanwhile it is mine to show until I get it changed.
You did a wonderful job... :P
wow, awesome quilt!
Oh my, I don't believe I could let this one leave my house and I know my son wouldn't let it leave the family. He loves anything with an American Indian theme and is very proud of our Creek Indian heritage.
That is my problem also Polly. I just love how it turned out. My husband is the one that wants me to sell it once I get the buffalo on the side changed. I'm going out into Custer State Park and take my own pictures and put them in there. I'm also going to make another quilt with Darrell Spotted Horse's drawings in it. I can sell that one also. I'm not an American Indian but I love the heritage side. I want to learn what some of their designs mean so I can also put them into quilts.
