I have tons of zippers if you need a few. I can send you some. And as for the partner, if they are smart they learn quickly to keep their mouth shut unless it is a good thing.

Then refold the bias tape and either hand stitch to the inside or machine stitch
I would put the bias tape on the inside and sew it down. Then fold to the outside. It would be much easier to hand stitch that way. Here's a bag I made doing it this way. It's actually called "psychodelic tote" but the abbreviation came out "psycho tote". Kind of fits me though

I like it. Great job.

Hey this is cute! You did a great job on it. If you want it to close you could always add some velcro with tiny stitches, hand stitched on after you finish the bias edges off. That would be pretty easy.

Just in case you want to make one with a zipper next time, take the two front and back pieces of fabric and sew the zipper on. right sides together. Then sew up the sides, leaving the zipper open while you sew it. Then turn it right side out .... done! (The edges could have bias sewn on to finish the inside pretty, but if they are pinked, it shouldn't ravel very much.)

I am going to try this after finding an old clutch bag with an actual old measuring tape used for the closure. It still worked great too.

Cut a metal measuring tape (The wide yellow Stanley tape is good) to fit around the purse and sew it in like elastic. That will make a snap shut opening. Easier then sewing in a zipper. I don't like sewing zippers.

I better explain more. Don't sew through the metal but encase it like a waistband.

I like that bag! You're too funny!..."Kind of fits me, though." : ) Like your idea too. Thanks.

Thank you! I was thinking velcro might be my speed. Lots of options I would never have thought of. You make the zipper thing sound so easy can't wait to experiment with one.

Hahahha glad you explained more! I would have tried to sew the tape.
