crazy quilt block

I've tried doing crazy quilt blocks before, but just couldn't get it right, so decided to try again. I have so many strings that I'm trying to use them up and needed a different pattern to do, so thought I would try a crazy quilt. Does this look right to you? Most of the strings are same size. Does this matter? This was just a practice piece, even got one piece wrong side out. I do think I have learned one thing though; I really don't like doing crazy quilt blocks. LOL. But, I had to try.

I think it looks absolutely wonderful!!!
One of the things I like best about crazy patch quilts is the no rules approach. :)

I bought some creative grids templates for Christmas that make it more uniform if you want more uniformity made easy. But I think you've made a lovely block. :)

I love it. I have a plastic template that I made some crazy quilt blocks for a friend that had embroidered small pieces and put the crazy quilt pieces around the embroidered piece. Turned out very nice even if I say so myself. Your block is great I think.

Nice way to use up scraps!

Yes, that is the technique. You would see more variation if the pieces were not rectangular. Try some more triangular pieces.

I do lots of "sew and flip" blocks with novelty focus fabrics in the center, keeping somewhat with the color scheme in the focus fabric. I enjoy making them, and it does use up a little bit of scraps.

Looks great to me...Jenny's MSQC tutorial uses same 2 1/2 width strips thru-out, I think. It's been awhile since I watched that tutorial. Great job...
