Would it be possible to get a pattern for the one on top. It is beautiful. I'd be happy to pay postage or for copies, etc, if it is available. |
Think about having your doilies framed. I brought some treasured ones to a wonderful framer and he did a marvelous job with double round mats etc. it took a ong time as they hand tacked all around the edges of the doily so it would not slip or move once the frame was hanging on the wall but they turned out BEAUTIFULLY!! Just a thought. They look great on the walls of my 1926 house...

Oh that is beautiful~~~
My Mom used to crochet doilies and other nice things with thread like that. I only crochet with yarn. Me and the small crochet hooks just don't get along. Wish I could do that though. I think not many people are into that sort of crochet like they used to be! Keep up the lovely work. |

Beautiful doiley, haven't seen any thing like this in a long time. I use to crochet but I can't anymore due to my hands hurting to bad, but I try and quilt some. great job.

wow all of those are so beautiful. I could look at them all day. It inspires me to get back into crocheting.

I used to crochet but the arthritis in my hands doesn't like it. My hands get to sore and stiff anymore. I love your piece tho, it is very beautiful.

I remember as a child helping put newly laundered and starched doilies on the "stretcher" so they would dry properly and "stiff" with starch..much like our"can-cans" we wore under our poofy skirts and dresses. Mostly sugar water was used as a starching liquid...

I never made it either.. I just helped once things were starched...but I know sugar water was used.. what the proportions were I haven't a clue...or how big a container was used to dunk the 'can-cans" in to get them coated in the sugar water...

here is a laugh ladies (and gentleman) I thought I used a size 6 on the doiley, but come to find out it was smaller and a size 9, and I'd been looking at the numbers upside down. Is there any hope for me out here....is it Alzheimers...oh woe is me~ (Laughing at my silly self)

SOOOOO pretty! I love doilies and needlework! I just finished a yellow doily. I should take a picture and share also. I still use doilies around my home. Sometimes I feel like it's becoming a lost art. I have a bin full of old Magic Crochet and Decorative Crochet magazines and I love the way they have graphs in them, so much easier to follow.

thanks for the comment on my doilie. I use mine in the house as well
