Just finished this. It came from an old book my sister in law owns (booklet) that was called Heirloom or something. Just thought you might enjoy seeing it. Picture taken at 11 p.m. and room isn't that light...used the flash attachment.

It is about 21 inches in diameter.

Beautiful! Very nice!

wordpaintervs 07-27-2011 10:24 PM

the darker color of that doiley is about a shade or two darker then the overall color of it all. If anyone wishes, I'll grab a picture tomorrow in the daytime. I just got in a hurry.

I used a number 6 steel hook that is old. I know it is because it has an embedded price on it of 10 cents. giggle

You've just brought back memories of my beloved nanna. Like you she was very talented and did lots of different hand crafts as well as sewing on a Singer treadle to which my GF had added a motor. Thanks for the memories.

quiltsillysandi 07-28-2011 03:00 AM

Oh my, what a talent! ANYONE, that can do this detailed, small crocheted work, I bow to.....Just gorgeous! My grandmother did these types of doilies, some were made to where you starched them and then put jars around the edges to create these "waves" for lack of a better description...Sadly, I don't know where they are now...

QuiltnNan 07-28-2011 03:50 AM

it's beautiful and Large!

MZStitch 07-28-2011 04:03 AM

Curious, how long did it take you? You must have incredible patience, as it looks like you have to really pay attention to every stitch. It's beautiful, thanks for letting us see.

Oh my goodness, that's Beautiful, and here I was thinking I was hot stuff, I made my first granny square last night after watching a youtube tute. I have some large doily like that that my dad's great aunt gave us for wedding gifts! Maybe I'll attempt something like that after I get the granny down better

wordpaintervs 07-28-2011 07:39 AM

thanks so much for all the kind replies. had meant to put it under chit chat as it isn't a quilting item. Today I took a picture and pu it on the knitting/crochet forum section of the message board.

It sure took lot of hours to get done and I'd share the pattern, but it came from an old brochure and must surely be copyright protected.

Glad you al liked it.
