Cross stitch quilt
 

I usually lurk on the photos board, but have been wanting to share this one for a while. I hope it's okay to post a quilt made a while ago.

Actually, this is the quilt that started me in quilting. I learned to sew clothes when I was 7 (on a hand-powered Singer, mind you - not that I'm that old, it was just the machine handed down from Grandma!) So I've been sewing a long time. Then I was also into cross stitch for a while, and found these super-cute patterns. I needed an excuse to stitch all these delightful patterns so I decided to make them up into a quilt, which I pieced but sent out for the actual quilting.

And now I'm hooked on quilting! (And my eyes can't cope with cross stitch any more anyway, so that's all good!)

So here's my "maiden" quilt. :o

I have made several quilts since this one, hopefully getting better each time.

I have those same embroidery designs and have never used them. They are beautiful on this quilt! I may have to do something with them.

Beautiful cross stitch! I used to do a lot of cross stitching by hand, when the eyes were younger. My biggest piece is framed 16x20, a porch scene with quilts, no less! Lovely work, dear.

very nice! When my DD was a baby I cross stitched several motifs and had used the round hoops as frames. I still have them but have wanted to turn them into something else, and something like this would be prefect.

Not your standard quilt fabric! ;) It's worked on 14-count Aida cloth.

I hope you and your daughter have a lovely time working together on this - it would be a really fun project to do together!

ETA: If your daughter really enjoys cross-stitching, I encourage her to explore more of this designer's work. Her designs are absolutely gorgeous! She has lots of beautiful floral and seasonal designs as well as these baby ones. :)

What a darling wall hanging. My cross stitch pieces are in a plastic tub. The aida cloth wouldn't wash well so never thought to use your smart idea! About time I got some of the work used. Thank you.

I would say this is definitely an heirloom quilt with all the beautiful cross stitching. I love the cross stitched blocks.

Having done cross stitch way back when, I appreciate the time it took to make all those adorable blocks. You really did a fabulous job setting them in the cute quilt too. Love it.

Great way to use those x-stitched designs. I know they also come in machine embroidery too as I have some of them but have never used them. Might have to open up the folder and see which ones I have and stitch them out.
