this was a spur of the moment project. saw something similar in a magazine and you all know how i love scrappy quilts :D
i tied the corner blocks and used a crow foot stitch to quilt the rest. |
Gosh i love it sure looks snugly in this winter coming weather. Happy Thanksgiving
What a great quilt! I love all the colors.
Wow nana,
What a beautiful quilt...love the crows foot quilting, it sure adds the finishing touch. :) |
Love it! I especially liked how you used the multiple colors in the quilting, WoW :D :D :D
Love the quilt and the quilting. Those crows feet add a whole new dimension. Beautiful work!
That is a beautiful display of my FAVORITE stitch - Crows Foot! Great job. Sara

I learned this stitch from my mother, who learned it from her mother, who learned it from her mother. . . . or so the story goes. Sara |
I really, really like the crows feet.. Makes the quilt "pop"...
Very Nice, Love those crowfeet, Thats astitch I want to learn and do. What kind of thread, did you use? The stitches are so even and decorative. Any suggestions, or advice, on doing them? Looks very Pro to me, so your advice and wisdom would be appreciated.
I read the other thread that says this stitch is the same as fly stitch. I've used fly stitch on decorative embroidery, but never thought of using it to hold a quilt together. Fantastic idea!! Thank you Sara.
Only today we should call them TURKEY FEET lol Great job.
I love scrappy quilts too and yours is fab  The way you've used the crowsfoot quilting really finishes it off nicely :D
great Job...Luv The Quilting :D
rebecca, thanks for the kind words. the stitch is very easy. i used a big ball of verigated crochet thread. if you saw it in person you would see that the stitches aren't perfect, but with practice they get pretty uniform. it looks old fashioned to me. plus the quilting goes really fast. you take a stitch and then travel inside about 1/2 inch to the next one. it is very satisfying to someone like me without a lot of patience for hand quilting
Wow! What a great quilt! I love scrappy quilts and the crowfoot quilting is awesome.
nana,,,I think you have alot of patience, with doing the stitch consistently, and so evenly, as well as doing the whole quilt. You don't give yourself enough credit.
I love this quilt. Kyia
Love your quilt and the crow feet. I've never heard of crow feet either. I must keep in mind to use in a future quilt. Great work.
Wow! Is that hand quilted? I sure like the simple patterns they really show off the color combos and stitching.
I have wanted to try hand quilting but I dont have the time or LOL patience.
This would look great on a bird quilt.......... |
Nana, did you use embroidery thread or hand quilting thread to make the turkey tracks?
Thanks, Linda D. PS. Saw the answer above........thanks! :D |
Very pretty and I love the way you quilted it! I've never seen that stitch before.
It is amazing that such a simple pattern can look so complicated and it really turned out beautifully. About how big is that actually? I can't really tell from the photos. It appears to be throw sized.
I think you did a GREAT job!!!
Really love the crows feet! |
ifw045, thanks for looking at my little lap quilt. i used the lightest weight crotchet thread to make the turkey tracks. it goes really fast.
thanks susan, yes this is a throw and i didn't really measure. i know i should but i get distracted easily, lol. i make my throws pretty generous. i have heard that when making them for people in wheel chairs they should be smaller so they don't get caught in the wheels. but mine are mostly for recliners so i make them a little smaller than twin size.
What an awesome idea :D I love your quilt
that was a great idea.....
nice |
I reall like what you did.
I love it!!!
Totally different, but I really like it, too.

THANK YOU!!!! Thimblebug your second post is the one I remembered. Very clear directions. The others provide very helpful info as well. I am making a quilt from men's deconstructed neckties and want to use this stitch to "quilt" it. Again, thank you!! I love this board!
Great work..the crow foot adds so much to it. How creative!
that sure is different. Great job with that.
