Crumbs in the Corner

3 Attachment(s)
I just finished the binding on this this afternoon. It has not been washed yet. Right now it measures approx 62 inches wide by 80 inches long. It was did sort of like a disappearing 9-patch with crumb blocks being in the corners, the same black with polka-dots in the center of all and two different grays used for the other blocks. I quilted it on my Juki 98Q...

and here is a little bit closer-in view:

and I chose this for the backing fabric:

I think you did a wonderful job of using your scraps while, at the same time, designing a coordinated, beautiful quilt. I love this idea and will put a copy of the photo into my files. Very nice job.

I LOVE your modern looking scrappy! What a clever idea to incorporate crumb blocks in d9p. I'll have to add that to my must try list!

Tartan 07-02-2013 02:48 PM

What a fun crumb quilt! It looks wonderful!

SemiSweet 07-02-2013 03:28 PM

Very cute, I love the wonky rectangles/triangles in the blocks!

grammy17 07-02-2013 04:41 PM

Do you have a picture of the square like the D9p before you cut it? I just finished a similar one. I really like yours.

dunster 07-02-2013 05:15 PM

Cute quilt. I love how the grey fabrics make the other colors pop.

Sandra in Minnesota 07-02-2013 05:36 PM

Very nice and colorful too.

JJean 07-02-2013 05:49 PM

Great quilt! Very pretty! Scrappy quilts can slip into chaos (ask me how I know) and your quilt is wonderful! I like how you put in some constants and used those scraps!

key4unc 07-03-2013 01:39 AM

I've been sewing together some orange crumbs and was playing with EQ and the DSP pattern using the crumb blocks in the corners. I haven't been able to come up with anything I like. I think it's because my crumb blocks don't have any colors except orange and an occasional red. I love yours and think I need to slash up my crumb blocks and add some color to them.

I got an idea from somebody else today for this same quilt. You ladies are just giving me all kinds of ideas.

Wow I love it. I for whatever reason have not cared for gray and then I saw this and love it. I took a picture as I have loads of crumb fabric and this disappearing 9 patch just makes me do the happy dance. Thanks for sharing and inspiring I want to do one.

I have actually did that with crumb blocks that I didn't like...cut them in half or 4ths and you don't have to cut directly in half or 4ths...

I really tried to think of a name with 'happy' in it because Roger and I both just think it is such a happy quilt. But before it was fully born, I had named it Crumbs in the Corner and just could not get away from that name.

Sorry, no pictures...I really need to learn to take photos of things in progress. But I am usually in too big of a hurry to come up and get camera.

The front is beautiful but I have to comment on the back fabric too! I love the butterflies! All good choices resulting in a lovely comfy creation. Please don't get aggrievated at me for liking the back as well as the front, I know it offends some but I just wanted to let you know it's really pretty! Love it
