i made this for my nieces birthday in 2 weeks. i'm also making her a tiny teddy bear and a quilt for the bear.

cutebuns 06-30-2009 06:10 PM

that is so cute, what a great idea, my 15 year old would love it

Ducky 06-30-2009 06:14 PM

OMG! I love that, Klue!!!!!! How cute! I would love to make that for my granddaughter. What pattern did you use? You make me smile!

jbsstrawberry 06-30-2009 06:19 PM

That is absolutely adorable!!! Awesome job!!! Your neice is just gonna love it!!

kluedesigns 06-30-2009 06:23 PM

here's the link to the pattern.

i only changed it slightly because she wants you to just glue the cupcake top onto the base.

i just did a top stitch to attach the cupcake top to the base (glue would never last with my niece)

its a little pricey but i bought a few patterns from them and the shipping was the same if i bought 1 or 3 patterns.

oh that is darling! and the bear and quilt will be the frosting on the c'cake. i'm sure that will be a birthday hit.

littlehud 06-30-2009 06:35 PM

That is darling. She is lucky to have you as an aunt.

QuiltinLee 06-30-2009 06:40 PM

They're just too cute!

kluedesigns 06-30-2009 06:40 PM

thanks for the compliments everyone.

i can't wait for her birthday. her grandmother is giving her a sewing machine and a wheeling tote so she can bring her own machine to my house for her sewing lessons.

did i mention she'll be 5 years old and she's already learned to make a tote bag, a table runner, and placemats.

cutebuns 06-30-2009 06:44 PM

the bag looks simple enough to just do a plain bag in what ever sixe you want and do the cupcake top and add it to. I will have to take out my pencil and paper and start sketching

tlrnhi 06-30-2009 06:46 PM

That's adorable!

MollieSue 06-30-2009 07:00 PM

That is soooo cute!!! I bet she's going to just totally love it!! :D :D

One of my granddaughter's will be 6 in August, and I was wondering when would be a good age for her to learn..... It's so great you've taught your neice to sew already!! :-)

get her started now. its such a great age when learning everything is cool and fun.

my niece loves making gifts for everyone - she loves the positive feedback.

its really brought her out of her shell and she has tons of self confidence now.

That's just too cute. :) Reminds me of when my daughters were younger, they loved stuff like that. You did an excellent job in making it, too.

Marcia 06-30-2009 07:10 PM

What an adorable bag. My daughter is on a cupcake kick lately so I am going to share the link with her. Thanks

thats all it is.

had i known that she wanted you to just glue everything together i never would have purchased the pattern.

when you look at the photo on the site it looks like things are sewn together but they aren't.

she did everything with fabric glue - even the buttons she has on her bag are glued on.

the size of the bag is listed on the site and it would be very easy to make up this pattern on your own.

you don't even have to make the scallop edge you could just sew ric rac where the 2 fabrics meet and it will look like a cupcake.

judee0624 06-30-2009 07:14 PM

:D Sew cute! Is it your design?

no its a "to buy" pattern - here's the link. i purchased the pattern but if you know how to make a tote bag you don't need to purchase it.

you could just figure it out.

Very true, I like the edge on the icing though it gives it character, and if making more than one, just layer the fabric and cut all the pieces to make them unique to that cupcake, my girls will love it, and they are older, not small at all, I have a pattern in a magazine on an animal tote and the 15 year old would like one of them.

sewnsewer2 06-30-2009 07:52 PM

That's so cute! I'm sure she will love it and all her friends will want one too.

I have both of those fabrics, and a grandbaby or two...woo hoo!
thanks, klue! :D she's gonna love it. can't wait to see the bear with blanky too!

kluedesigns 07-01-2009 12:32 PM

well i've just finished the bear and lets just say its very primitive looking - i'll post pics when i finish the bear quilt.

the quilt for the bear is just blue and white squares - nothing fancy.

how great! you'll be able to make some too.

before you know it the cupcake will be the new fad across the country.

for the handle i used the premade baby blanket binding the store had the multicolor and i thought it matched really well.

nellie 07-01-2009 02:24 PM

that is so cute she,s going to love it
