I'm taking a class online at Quilt University called Fabric Portraits. Here is my line drawing. Now I have to find fabrics! I'm sure this will require a trip to the LQS as I tend to buy bright colors that surely will not work for a face! :-D
I must admit that the instructor had to help me with the drawing. Line drawing Original |
Please keep posting as you go along with this, I would love to see this as it unfolds :D:D:D

This looks so complex. I love your work. I will enjoy watching it evolve.
|
That's great and very artistic. It's something I wish I knew how to do. I'm making a quilt with "images" of my daughter & her fiance on a beach blanket and because I can't make the real faces I have to make them whimsical with button eyes, over sized noses and funny mouths.I don't know if I could find the right fabrics to shade the faces, I think it would be difficult at least for me. Please post pics when done.
|
Good luck with this! Can't wait to see it!

Here is the finished portrait. It really was not nearly as hard as I expected and I'm pleased with the results.
I asked my hubby to please find a "rustic" board to make a frame and he went out and found one hanging from the neighbors' fence (most of the fence is long gone). Only thing is, the board is so rustic it will take weeks to dry out. Close up of eye and glasses |
