Oh my - I think a wholecloth would be incredible. Go for it, you obviously know what you are doing with that needle!!

CarolinePaj 05-09-2011 01:39 PM

I think you have done an amazing job!

ALL the quilting is gorgeous. You do tremendous work! I'm new here, and only hope to be able to do a reasonably decent job of FMQ someday!! You are an inspiration!

Holy Cow....you didn't use a long arm to do that!? You are an artist! I think it is beautiful quilting. I'm not sure what a Juki TL98 is, but does it have a large throat space & drop feed? I think after seeing your quilting I will have to look at that machine when I'm ready to buy again.

WOW, your quilting is fabulous -- oh that I could accomplish this !!!
I did a workshop recently and was told about McTavashing, -- i have been doodling with pencil and paper. Just have to now practice practice !!

jeanneb52 05-10-2011 03:24 AM

just lovely. I have a new midarm that I am trying to learn so I am impressed when someone has tamed a machine

I first heard about McTavishing in my very first ever freemotion quilting class at my LQS about 2 years ago. We didn't get time to try it then, but I liked the look of it, so I ordered my first book by Karen McTavish. I got her "Custom Curves" book recently, and just yesterday, ordered the "Secrets of Elemental Quilting". I find her books and DVD's MOST helpful in getting me going on this!!!

Thanks Mandy. I'd HIGHLY recommend this book and video to anyone who's interested in this technique!

PWinston 08-09-2011 06:40 AM

What do I think? I think you do fabulous work. I am lucky to stitch in the ditch. I pay for someone to quilt my quilts and they are not nearly as nice as this. Do you quilt for others?

I do quilt for my daughter, but she's starting to do her own with her new machine now, and I'm going to do a horse show ribbon quilt for a friend this winter....But mostly I do this for myself and family because I enjoy it. I don't have a long arm, and don't want to feel like I need to make a profit.

That's beautiful and I love the quilting. I am a FMQ newbie and am about ready to hang it up! It sure isn't as easy as the videos make it look!
