It will soften up with washings, don't worry. I think it is perfect for baby. So soft and dreamy.

Great baby quilt, especially with the little panel on the front. If the mother finds it too heavy for baby to cuddle under, it would make a great play quilt while the little one isn't crawling yet. One of the very first quilts I made I used a cheater panel, then 2 layers of old quilted mattress cover and just for good measure a layer (maybe 2, I forget as my daughter is now 38 and not 6 when I made it) of batting. My daughter loved to drag it outside along with her Barbie's and use it as a play blanket. She loved it. You did a great job on the quilt and I'm sure the mother will love it.

It's an adorable quilt. From what I can see, your quilting looks really nice. It will be a welcome gift for the new little one.

btiny36! Here a picture of the block that I copied. I used the strip method of piecing, which is a life saver and worked amazingly well for these small pieces. I really hope this helps you and I am sorry that I didn't send this to you earlier. I made the 4 outer pieces an 1/8 of an inch larger than the rest of the pieces so that when I finished the block, I could square them up to the same size. This worked for me. Yolanda
