Curved Log Cabin Baby Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I just finished this quilt. Always a learning experience for me. For the first time, I bought 100% cotton batting. It was so soft that I decided to double it. Probably not the best decision. The quilt is only 44 x 54 and it is very stiff and very heavy. On the positive side, it turned out really beautiful. The baby's theme is "wildlife" and so I added the panel. I did the FMQ on my domestic machine and still struggling with consistency. Not sure that I will ever be satisfied with my FMQ. The quilt is ready for the shower on Sunday. Glad I was able to finish it in time.

The final blocks were 6 1/8 inches square.

quilterpurpledog 02-18-2016 03:53 AM

Very pretty quilt. I think the panel in the center really adds a nice touch to the quilt. Don't be so hard on yourself about mastering FMQ; it improves over time and just becomes a fun part of the process.

Kris P 02-18-2016 04:49 AM

Pretty quilt. Your quilting looks great.

EmiliasNana 02-18-2016 05:33 AM

Gorgeous and I wouldn't worry about the stiffness. Most mothers now-a-days use quilts for the floor or as a wall hanging, so stiffness would be a plus in those cases. You did a beautiful job.

waltonalice 02-18-2016 05:54 AM

The shades of blue are perfect for a baby; the curving log cabins are stunning; the size is perfect for a tummy time on the floor now and nap time later quilt; and the quilting looks stunning. And I agree with all who love the way that you incorporated the center sweet panel.
