This customer's quilt is interesting. They did a Disappearing 9-patch....but cut it once again! I have to have them show me because looking at the blocks confused me totally. I especially like the heart design in the quilting -- I'm pleased with it... :) :) Sorry the pics are kinda blurry -- but the quilt is already packed up for the PO so I can't take another one! I forgot to mention -- this is for a 6 yr old girl!!!

Well that gives me an idea of what to do with my D9P. I did the normal cut but don't like it so I will give it a try. I hate when I plan a quilt out the don't like the blocks.

In looking closely at the quilt, and seeing where the seams are - you can pick out each section as it was sewn into a square. I think the 9 Patch was cut 6 times. Each of the squares was cut vertically (that would be 3 cuts) and each square was cut horizontally (3 cuts) so instead of 2 cuts, or 3 cuts, it is cut 6 times.
Anyone agree with me on this??? It would work well in nice be 5" or 6" squares. Looks like fun! June in Cincinnati |

INSTRUCTIONS!
I just got an e-mail back from the owner....he says he doesn't really remember how he did it! He thinks he did the following: It's a normal D9p that he had all sewn together. Didn't like so much of the cream, so he cut thru the cream going thru the middle again, just like doing a D9p.....he said he started with charm pack (5" sq?) and at the end, had to trim off some to get the measurement he wanted. He also followed up with -- "make a dp9 and just have fun playing with it!" |
she is going to love it
|
It would be interesting to know how she did another cut. It turned out very pretty. Love the colors for a little girl and the quilting looks great!
|
Super job!
|
type into google tutorial for d9p...that's where i learned how to do it...someone told me to make sure the patch in the middle should be white....i have learned so much just by going to google and ask for a tutorial for anything or any block....
