The date on the bottom is very wrong. Just haven't figured out how to reset it.(not a priority I guess)

trupeach1 04-08-2010 05:52 AM

That's going to be a beautiful quilt. Your granddaughter will absolutely love it.

CajunQuilter2 04-08-2010 06:48 AM

I love how this turned out. How did you arrange the 3 colors in the 9 patch to get this pattern. I really like it.

sewjean 04-08-2010 06:57 AM

The butterflies is in the 4 outside corners, Lightest blue is middle square and the darker blue is on the other 4. after it is cut in the middle each piece is turned one time to the right.

feline fanatic 04-08-2010 06:59 AM

What gorgeous fabric. I love them all but especially that butterfly one.

I have a question that is only kind of "on topic" for this. Can someone explain why this particular block is called a disappering nine patch?? I am at a loss. However the more quilts I see done in this simple yet great block the more I am thinking I might want to make one myself. I was just wondering why D9P has that name as to me it bears no resemblance to a 9 patch but maybe I am missing some clever subtility to it.

Thanks, I have a quilt I have been wanting to do in that pattern but only have 3 so that will work perfect. Thanks so much for sharing.

well, it does start out as a 9 patch and after it is cut it dissapears! that is my thinking. I too kept looking at them and love it so this is my take on it. It is an easy one to do & with many patterns to choose from!

sewjean 04-08-2010 07:05 AM

My thinking is 3 fabrics and it won't look scrappy, looks more planned. I like scrappy but just didn't want one this time. lol

DJ 04-08-2010 07:07 AM

Nice start. I've been thinking about doing more D9Ps myself.

Tippy 04-08-2010 07:21 AM

Oh, I love the fabrics you've chosen!

azdesertrat 04-08-2010 08:32 AM

for a disappearing nine patch, after the nine patch is made ,you cut it once horizontally and then once vertically.then you turn the oieces around and sew them back together to make a neat design, really fun to do

Jim's Gem 04-08-2010 01:17 PM

That's going to be really pretty!!1

wow, I like this, I'm doing one with yellow happy chickens, red chicken wire and a black block in the middle. I've gotten 6 sewn so far. Going to have a yard sale tomorrow so not much sewing time. I love the way you re-arranged this.
